Inspired the Oscar Best Picture thread, if the Grammy’s always had the new 8 nominee rule, what do you think would’ve be nominated?

Gaga wouldn´t have been ignored that many times in record and song of the year. Also Joanne would probably be a candidate for AOTY.

    Agree about Joanne.

Apart from Million Reasons in SotY I don’t think she’s really contention been since Bad Romance (apart from Edge of Glory, which I recalled correctly wasn’t submitted?)

The big question is ‘which among these would be the three filler urban album of the year nominations’ to please the angry urban audiences.

For last year Khalid’s American Teen and SZA’s Ctrl probably would’ve been in Album of the Year. The other spot would likely have been a race between Migos’s Culture, Lady Gaga’s Joanne, and The Weeknd’s Starboy. I think they still would’ve snubbed Ed Sheeran. I think Record of the Year would’ve had SZA’s The Weekend and Sam Hunt’s Body Like a Back Road, after that either Julia Michael’s Issues, Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You, or Portugal. The Man’s Feel it Still. Song of the Year I would say Kendrick Lamar’s HUMBLE., Sam Hunt’s Body Like a Back Road, and Kesha’s Praying

Rihanna would do much better in the general fields.

    – ANTI for AOTY in 2017
    – Stay for ROTY & SOTY in 2014
    – Only Girl (In the World) for ROTY in 2011
    – Good Girl Gone Bad for AOTY in 2008

Gaga wouldn´t have been ignored that many times in record and song of the year. Also Joanne would probably be a candidate for AOTY.

    Agree about Joanne.

Apart from Million Reasons in SotY I don’t think she’s really contention been since Bad Romance (apart from Edge of Glory, which I recalled correctly wasn’t submitted?)

Bad Romance for SOTY and ROTY in 2011.In 2012 Born This Way, You and I and The Edge Of Glory could and should have get in any of those categories.

Ed Sheeran would’ve been nominated and won against Bruno Mars.

Bad Romance for SOTY and ROTY in 2011.In 2012 Born This Way, You and I and The Edge Of Glory could and should have get in any of those categories.

Born This Way and TEOG weren’t entered. She entered Judas and You and I. Neither were strong enough against the competition that year and probably wouldn’t have gotten in the 3 extra slots.

Judas´s submission is a mess but I still think You and I had a chance at SOTY.

Even if there were 8 slots last year, the blue-ribbon committee would’ve still snubbed Ed Sheeran in the General Field.
