All boybands have to separate. It starts with one of them releasing solo projects.

they are not breaking up lol. they have been releasing solo material since 2015 (RM’s mixtape). Just FYI they have the freedom to release solo material as long as they participated in the production or songwriting. They normally release their solos for in digital formats (and even post links to dropbox and soundcloud for free downloads lol)

They don’t have to separate necessarily, though it’s the most common to happen. BTS have been releasing solo material since before they debuted, solo EPs since 2015. It’s normal for kpop idols to have a carrer in the group and solo simultaneously so only time will tell what choices they make

But my point still stays, europe should not be an excuse to call taylor a local act.

of course she isn’t, but she isn’t that big in germany for example, especially her albums

Honestly I think that the members are or were a bit burned out after Dynamite. At least two of them mentioned wanting to have a bit of time to rest , a small break ( Namjoon and Jin) . So that’s why I expect just one comeback this year, at least 6 months after BE but with a full album . BE wasn’t even planned at first and only happened cause they couldn;t tour . As for solo work, they won’t show up on ifpi. They don’t have any physicals unless BH and BTS decide to do a full album rollout and not release them as mixtapes which so far doesn’t seem likely so don’t expect them on the lists.

oh I know the solo stuff won’t show up because of how they choose to distribute the music. I just mentioned it to explain why I thought only one album was gonna happen this year. My guess is JJK1/KTH1 2nd and 4th quarter while a full BTS album sometime in the summer.

anyways Ima jump off now before the elitist Grammy police starts with their “ARMYS ARE SO ANNOYING” mantra on this thread. Peaceeee

Taylor is only doing bad in specific European countries, she is doing pretty good in UK, Ireland and Denmark, so the haters focus on the rest ones.

also funny how you name 3 countries as if europe only consists of 5 lol

I agree with your points, but if they can’t tour this year (which is sadly likely), they will probably comeback on the second semester. I’m curious to see what they got planned for this year.

Also really wanted bighit to give them a proper solo debut, I would buy all versions of KTH1 and so would Tae’s Chinese fans

Exactly. They work a bit differently than western acts. Members of groups release solo work all the time and then continue on with the group activities . Look at Shinee, a 13 year old group, all members have their own stuff going on, Taemin has two solo albums out and is in another group too and they just had a comeback in February. Of course I expect at some point that the members will start promoted solo careers but I don;t think this will mean the end of BTS, at worst a prolonged hiatus.

plus, they signed a new 7 yr contract extension last year AND are significant label shareholders thanks to the BH IPO. They’re not going anywhere.

Congrats to all who made a strong showing on the year end lists. Huge accomplishment for all the artists!
