Honey, this is another delusional Swiftie thread.March 4, 2021 at 8:23 am #1204082217
How did Justin make it over bad bunny, harry, dua, etc. They’re albums outsold changes? His sales were so bad I’m confused.March 4, 2021 at 8:34 am #1204082241
Justin is MASSIVE in China. Changes sold 800k copies there and loads of Chinese streams. He also has a popular catalog that is consumed globally. Bad Bunny has like zero album sales and his Spotify streams have featured artists so the IFPI weights them down compared to Justin‘s catalog streams that mostly are feature free.March 4, 2021 at 8:37 am #1204082252
BTS not only released 3 new albums in 2020 but they also rereleased an older album that the ARMY had voted on.
Every time they acquire new fans they go back to listen to all the old stuff from the last 7+ years and quite a few end up buying up the old albums because of the notes, cards, etc in them. (I see multiple videos of people trying them for the first time then within a few videos they are “guess what I just bought?” and then next thing you see is them unboxing multiple older albums they just got)
So yes while they had 3 albums in 2020, it is sales across the whole discography along with streams that count for this.March 4, 2021 at 8:46 am #1204082288
Really happy and proud of BTS for reaching a new high this year, first non-anglophone act to be in the Top 10 and now the first to be #1. Also really amazed by the longevity of acts like Eminem and Taylor who have been at the top of the industry for so long nowMarch 4, 2021 at 8:52 am #1204082329
Artists with multiple entries since 2013:
5- Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran
4- The Weeknd, Eminem
3- Ariana Grande, One Direction, BTS, Justin Bieber, Post Malone, Bruno Mars, Coldplay
2- Imagine Dragons, Adele, Beyonce, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, QueenMarch 4, 2021 at 9:07 am #1204082390
Justin and all the top 10 are not only relying on the 2020 album but on their whole catalog. People like Harry Styles (who only has 22 songs on spotify) stand no chance against that, even considering the impressive numbers he was able to sell with Fine Line.March 4, 2021 at 9:10 am #1204082404
And I’m not 100% sure of this but I think Bad Bunny and Dua are only big in streaming and do not have big sales numbers.March 4, 2021 at 9:13 am #1204082413This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.March 4, 2021 at 9:13 am #1204082417
The artists that made it to the top 10 have huge back catalog. Which is why people that dominated the year like Dua and Harry didn’t make it.March 4, 2021 at 1:10 pm #1204083000
Dua Lipa is not big on streaming
??? Yes she is lolMarch 4, 2021 at 1:17 pm #1204083019
Future Nostalgia was the most streamed female album of 2020 and Dua Lipa has 4 songs over 1b streams on Spotify (the most out of any female artist). Saying she isn’t big on streaming is just a lie, especially given how FN continues to be the top female album on Spotify in these days.March 4, 2021 at 1:31 pm #1204083057
You are aware that Spotify has a list of their biggest artists and the biggest albums in 2020, right? Are you sure that want to stay with that answer?
Most Streamed Albums Globally
YHLQMDLG, Bad Bunny
After Hours, The Weeknd
Hollywood’s Bleeding, Post Malone
Fine Line, Harry Styles
Future Nostalgia, Dua Lipa
So yes her album was the most streamed female album of 2020.
