It usually is discussed on the Movies and TV threads at what position were the other contenders, who was second? how close was it? who was last place? Now it’s time to discuss it for the Grammys. I want to start with Lady Gaga because she’s my favorite, but feel free to comment about any artist you like!

    Just Dance: Best Dance Recording.
The Fame: Album of the Year.
Poker Face: Record of the Year, Song of the Year.
The Fame Monster: Album of the Year.
Telephone: Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.
Dance in the Dark: Best Dance Recording.
Born This Way: Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album.
You and I: Best Pop Solo Performance.
Til It Happens to You: Best Song Written for Visual Media.
    Joanne: Best Pop Vocal Album.
Million Reasons: Best Pop Solo Performance
Shallow: Record of the Year, Song of the Year.
Always Remember Us This Way: Song of the Year.

To me she was second i many of those nominations, like The Fame Monster for AOTY, Dance In The Dark in BDR, Telephone, Til It Happens To You, Million Reasons and obviously Shallow, some of those she definitely should have won, and the Born This Way year is kinda hard because Adele was such a strong winner everyone else were fifth placers basically, but she could be second place in the pop categories.

I think she was second for Joanne, Shallow, The Fame Monster, Telephone, Dance in the Dark, and Born This Way’s Pop Vocal nod.

Praying by Kesha strikes me as a likely second more than Million Reasons. Lizzo was probably second for SOTY.

Kesha was definitely a possibility, she had a very strong narrative that could make her a second on both her nominations. And i agree, Lizzo was an obvious second plac.

I think Shallow was ~30-70 votes shy of SOTY. It was her strongest contender for SOTY and there was crazy hype for the movie. She lost because it was the latest release and didn’t get a chance to peak.

I agree, Shallow just SCREAMS SOTY, if the song had peaked before the voting it would had won both for sure.

I think this would be better done with years instead of artists. More like who was second and third each year.

    2020:

    AOTY: WWAFA,WDWG?

    Second: Cuz I Love You

    Third: Father of the Bride

    ROTY: Bad Guy

    Second: Old Town Road

    Third: Truth Hurts

    SOTY: Bad Guy

    Second: Truth Hurts

    Third: Lover

    BNA: Billie Eilish

    Second: Lizzo

Third: No one else was ever going to win

    FYC:

AOTY: folklore, Gaslighter, Kid Krow, Ungodly Hour, Punisher, SAWAYAMA, Future Nostalgia, Manic

I would have had her there if she had had any support with wins anywhere but it doesn’t seem like they liked her anywhere. Again, she very well could have been. I have no idea.

This year is definitely a complicated one, Lizzo could have been second in AOTY, but she was never going to win it, imo. Ariana, Lana and Vampire Weekend seem like better options to me for a runner up.

Keep dreaming!  Lady Gaga was NOT second in her nominations.  Pure delusion.

Get real!  Thank U, Next was NOT the runner-up in Album of the Year.  Lizzo was runner-up.  In fact, Ariana Grande was in 6th place.
