Pretty exciting news! This will be Janelle Monáe’s first full-length album in five years. The release date hasn’t been announced yet, but the album will feature an “emotion picture” narrative film project that will be released in select theaters before the opening of “Black Panther.”
“Monae never does anything by half, and while the teaser gives little indication about the storyline behind the film—the clip is an odd mix including flashes of love, totalitarianism, club scenes, and a wild-looking floating car—it is compelling and ties into the futurist themes that Monae has used during her entire recording career.”

it’s looking like great reviews so far! except for one from the guardian who calls it “vagina monologues from a far-off planet,” which i think is not the negative he thinks it is and maybe not too far off from what she was attempting haha.
plus, look at the type of guy reviewing a janelle monáe album. i don’t entirely take his word on it. I’m getting my first listen to it and it’s everything the singles promised it would be.
