Wanted to start a topic regarding Janet Jackson and her surprising snubs in the big 4 categories. I’ve looked up articles and many reviewers during those times were shocked with her snubs. Here are my opinions on her snubs.
Record of the Year (Miss You Much)
Song of the Year (Rhythm Nation)
Album of the Day (Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation 1814)Song of the Year (That’s The Way Love Go)
Record of the Year (That’s The Way Love Go)
Album of the Year (Janet)Song of the Year (Together Again)
Album of the Year (The Velvet Rope)Record of the Year (All For You)
Do you agree that Janet was snubbed badly in the big 4 categories? If so, where should she have been nominated.

The Grammy voters were not kind to the actual great pieces of art back then. But they had no issues nominating The Three Tenors. Okay…

I was shocked to learn that. I also read that the Janet album (1993) was the best selling studio album of 93 and That’s The Way Love Goes was one of the biggest songs, but she was snubbed.

both rhythm nation and like a prayer failing to get gf nods (in the latter’s case no nominations until a music video nod the year after) in 1990 is just, delightfully trashy

The Velvet Rope is her best album IMO but it didn’t even make it into Best R&B album. 1999 was also the year Lauryn Hill won and was one of the best AOTY lineups ever.

“Again”
“Together Again”April 20, 2020 at 11:42 pm #1203438499I forgot that she was the first female to have a Producer of the Year nomination. She should have won along with Jimmy and Terry.
That’s The Way Love Go is one of the greatest songs of the 90s for me. Such a great mixture of soul and Hip-Hop. She should have had the following nominations in 1994.
Best Song Written Specifically for a Motion Picture or for Television (Again)
