To be honest I think rap would fit it more, but in contemporary Christian music he might actually winAugust 29, 2021 at 11:31 am #1204422869
Did he really have his soon to be ex-wife come out and renact their wedding at an event for this?! Just heard that on the radio and wow if its true but also wow that weirdAugust 29, 2021 at 2:28 pm #1204423211
Kanye is a walking contradiction. One minute he’s an anti-Bush pro-Black rapper. Then he’s a pro-life Trump supporter who believes slavery was a “choice”. Now he’s a born again Christian back to selling his soul to associate himself with the likes of a homophobe, DaBaby, & accused rapist, Marilyn Manson.
Will the real Kanye please stand up? Mental illness is very real but let’s not pretend Mr. West isn’t a stunt queen who pulls these tricks for attention. As someone from Chicago, I know people who saw the show/listening event & said it was T-R-A-S-H. All hype & no substance.August 29, 2021 at 3:26 pm #1204423302
No matter what Kanye is saying or doing, he’s always been mostly driven by insecurities and ego. And he’s always been a stunt queen. Everything is emotion, ego, surface level stuff where he’s desperately looking for approval or the rile people. Y’all just thought the random outbursts and egotism was funny or necessary when it was mostly pointed at white people/the right-leaning. And honestly, all this focus on being born again/a preacher just seems like a way to avoid of multitude of issues and struggles while still wanting to be at the center. But his stans eat it up.August 29, 2021 at 5:05 pm #1204423398
I was a little hyped for this but now I’m disappointed he’s continuing to associate himself with the worst human beings. Didn’t even bother listening.August 29, 2021 at 5:14 pm #1204423418
Early reviews not looking too good.
“irrelevance is the direction in which each successive post-Pablo album is veering, like some endless noodling over the same beat into the heavens. This album is flabby dad bod in musical form. Midway through streaming it, a trap jingle for Old Spice came on. It took me 20 seconds to realize this wasn’t one of the 27 tracks off Donda. That’s the type of album we’re talking about here. But if this slog somehow brings you closer to God, more power to you.”
It’s looking like the album will enter Metacritic tomorrow in the low 60’s.
Commercially the album is shaping up to be a juggernaut. Number 1 across iTunes, Apple Music, and Spotify in 70 countries.
This is looking to be Kanye’s most polarizing album since Yeezus. Only difference is critics fell all over themselves to anoint Yeezus as some avant garde pop art masterpiece whereas this is getting criticism for being overly long, bloated, and meandering.August 29, 2021 at 5:43 pm #1204423456

Only the first half of Yeezus was giving. Should’ve been a EP.August 29, 2021 at 6:32 pm #1204423612
MBDTF, Late Registration, 808s and Heartbreak> Yeezus
Yeezus is a short 10 songs but has several throwaways tracks. I appreciate it and think it’s half-great.August 29, 2021 at 7:52 pm #1204423818
Yeezus is trash and a DISGRACE to Hip HopAugust 29, 2021 at 10:40 pm #1204424110
I liked the album, it’s long and bloated but it’s still fairly good (except the last five tracks, pure filler). It’s one of those albums where you feel like cherry picking and just creating your own track list.
But damn, Kanye is so disappointing. I’ve been a very long time fan of his music but supporting him gets harder every year. I really don’t feel good streaming an album that has an accused rapist and a homophobe on it. His stunts have gone too far but most of his fans clearly don’t care and he cashes upon it.
The Grammys will not care either, as expected. Not now
