Kelly Price has been nominated for 9 Grammys, but has not won. Were there any times you think Kelly should have won the Grammy?

Kelly Price started off as a background singer for a number of artists including Mariah Carey, Notorious B.I.G., Brian McKnight, R. Kelly, Aretha Franklin, Faith Evans and SWV.

    Below are her Grammy nominations:

2000 “Heartbreak Hotel” (with Whitney Houston and Faith Evans) Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals

2001 “As We Lay” Best Female R&B Vocal Performance
2004 “He Proposed” Best Traditional R&B Performance
2011 “Tired” Best Female R&B Vocal Performance
2012 “Not My Daddy” (feat. Stokley Williams) Best R&B Performance
2012. “Not My Daddy” Best R&B Song
    2012 Kelly Best R&B Album
2017 “Ultralight Beam” (with Kanye West, Chance the Rapper, Kirk Franklin and The-Dream) Best Rap/Sung Performance
2017 Ultralight Beam” (with Kanye West, Chance the Rapper, Kirk Franklin and The-Dream) Rap Song

Kelly Price had stiff competition in most of those categories.  She deserved to win Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance for “He Proposed.”

I think she should have won over Fantasia for Tired. That was a VOCAL masterpiece.

    Aaliyah – “Try Again”

I think Erykah Badu and Jill Scott cancelled each other out.

Poor Aaliyah, she also deserved this.

Also, this can goes for Nas and Snoop Dogg, hip-hop legends that many times nominated but never won. Even Kendrick mentioned them in his 2016 speech.

It’s crazy how lenient they were in 2003 to allow “He Proposed” and especially “Comin’ From Where I’m From” in Traditional R&B Performance. I would have easily placed those songs in Female R&B and Male R&B, respectively. That was the sound of R&B at the time.

We need to make a Brian McKnight thread. He’s been nominated for, like, 20 Grammys and he’s never won.
