Haters are gonna have a hard time making peace with the fact that this era is not the ARTPOP 2.0 mess they were desperately hoping for.
Sad day for them.May 28, 2020 at 10:45 pm #1203506743
Honey, delusional stans are going to have a hard time making peace with the fact that this era will NOT be the A Star Is Boring 2.0 success that they are desperately hoping for. Crapmatica will be completely forgotten by July.May 28, 2020 at 10:46 pm #1203506745
You know something, Stupid Love is definitely the worst track on the album. Burn that shit. She should release something different for pop solo, Fun Tonight could do since it’s the one that’s getting the most attention.
I hope the album does well 🙂.
She really gave the gays everything they wanted.May 28, 2020 at 11:46 pm #1203506796This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.May 28, 2020 at 11:52 pm #1203506804
It’s actually way better than expected. Like… I’m speechless. Fight me, I thought it was better than Future Nostalgia. I liked 4 songs on that album but on Chromatica there’re like 7-8 songs I like. This album could easily win Best Dance Album of critics are here for it.
Stupid Love is a bad first single choice. Free Woman, Fun Tonight, Sine Form Above, 1000 Doves, Babylon and Rain On Me are BOPMay 29, 2020 at 12:25 am #1203506858
ROM will win at least one Grammy. Unsure of an AOTY nom, but critics’ responses might clear things up. This is certainly going to be a very divisive album; they might as well have called it ARTPOP II: Electric Boogaloo. I’m clinging onto the hope that LG7 will be her magnum opus but I think she reached her creative peak, both musically and artistically, early on in her career. As much as I unapologetically stan her discography, I’m ready to see her in more films and win some Oscars. Edit: Relistening to it now and realising that it’s not actually that bad. Certainly not on the level of The Fame Monster or Born This Way but it’s surprisingly enjoyable. Alice, Babylon, 911 and Replay are great. I still stand firm behind my view that Rain On Me is a truly terrible song.
you’re right on the most part and that’s why I liked your comment, but Rain On Me is amazing

Why did the Sophie-produced track had to be a bonus track? Sigh

I find the album to be cohesive. There are a few skips but she succeeds in maintaining the atmosphere throughout the album, that retro-futuristic pop feel. I also find it to be pretty tongue-in-cheek and camp. There are some problems with the lyrics in that at times they’re not camp enough and also not personal enough either. So you end up with lyrics that feel like the standard stale pop fare. The song structure is very pop-ish, for better or worse.
I’m personally not a fan of that verse – pre-chorus structure. It kills tension a bit. A lot of the times you have to wait until the chorus for the song to start rocking.

Just listened. Think it’s a brilliantly cohesive piece of work and every song flows so well into the next. Not sure each will hold up individually but I’d rather this than an album full of single worthy tracks that had nothing to do with eachother. Babylon, though, is an alltimer.May 29, 2020 at 4:11 am #1203507024

I agree. I honestly almost never listen to any Ray Of Light song except the title track and Frozen sometimes. But it just feels like a great album because it’s very cohesive. I think cohesive albums where every song is great are very rare. Pure Heroine comes to mind.

Fun Tonight is the best song she’s written in years. And that’s about it.
