Lemonade isn’t my favorite Beyoncé album. I’d argue it’s overrated and depended on a narrative & visual to make the actual music compelling.
But there’s no denying it’s impact. Critics certainly loved it. Fans…appreciated it. But I’d be hard pressed to find any day 1 B stans who’d say this is her best.
4 is probably her magnum opus. It was pretentious enough to satisfy critics yet still accessible enough to general audiences (even though it underperformed).
After 4, I’d say BEYONCÉ is her 2nd masterwork. That should’ve won Album of the Year.April 24, 2021 at 1:05 am #1204218633
Still sounds so fresh after 5 years. I wonder if her next album can top this one.April 24, 2021 at 5:09 pm #1204220080
Not as good as “Beyoncé”, but still should’ve won Album Of The Year over 25.
I know this is probably an unpopular opinion, but I think the album’s highlights are “Pray You Catch Me” (seriously, WHAT an opener), “Formation”, “Forward” and “All Night”.
FYC | Best music this season:
Arlo Parks - Collapsed In Sunbeams
St. Vincent - Daddy's Home
Jazmine Sullivan - Heaux Tales
Tyler, The Creator - Call Me If You Get Lost
Wolf Alice - Blue WeekendApril 24, 2021 at 7:12 pm #1204220179
Where do you all think B will go sonically next? Lemonade was her last solo studio album so there’s a lot to live up to. Since then she’s had a string of side projects that were critically lauded & awarded but not that successful or culturally relevant.
I think she should go the Pop route or reunite with Destiny’s Child for a comeback album/stadium tour. Either would ignite interest in her music again. The former would win her Album of the Year. I’m almost 100% certain.April 25, 2021 at 9:30 am #1204221212This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.April 25, 2021 at 10:08 am #1204221361
Honey, Beyoncé will be 40 soon. She’s run her course. Beyoncé has stolen concepts/ideas so much that there is NOT anything left to steal. The surprise release thing is overrated and beyond tired.April 25, 2021 at 10:26 am #1204221413This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.April 25, 2021 at 10:28 am #1204221424

B’Day is B at her best: high energy, uptempo, banger/bops! She’s a very skilled vocalist but her ballads & mid tempos aren’t always memorable or the best.April 26, 2021 at 11:43 pm #1204230876
Lemonade is still as relevant as ever. A body of work that will continue to be 5,10 or 20 years later. An important and valuable part of Beyoncé’s legacy!April 29, 2021 at 4:43 pm #1204235498
I actually like Lemonade more now. But her self-titled remains my favorite album from her. I hope she avoids going down the “visual album” route next time. Because I kinda think that overshadowed the actual album.
