To me, this is the one that most definitely should’ve been her win if only one could’ve been in the cards for her.

God bless you and Martina always!!!

I would have awarded her for Independence Day. I love Mary Chapin Carpenter and I love Shut Up and Kiss Me, but Independence Day was perfect. 1996 was a tough year with some great performances and all would have been worthy. 2003 she got beaten by Faith Hill’s crossover success. Her last best chance in the country female category was 2010, but even that would have been a tough win. The other years, she got beaten by better performances/stories/hits.

For the collaboration nominations, she was beaten by Alison Krauss & Shenandoah and by Garth & Trisha. Those were juggernauts that weren’t going to be defeated.

Her video for Concrete Angel was amazing, but no way Johnny Cash was losing.

So I would definitely give her one Grammy.
