Jakarta -Miley Cyrus left RCA after completing a three-album contract. Now, he is reportedly joining Columbia Records.
Quoted from Billboard and NME, Columbia Records official Ron Perry was reported to have invited Miley Cyrus to join. If it were true that Miley Cyrus had joined Columbia Records, she would have been on the same label as BTS, Harry Styles, Beyonce and Mariah Carey.
Last year, Miley Cyrus released the Plastic Hearts album in November 2020. In that album, she also invited a number of other musicians to collaborate. They are Dua Lipa, Joan Jett and Billy Idol. Plastic Hearts will be Miley Cyrus’ last album under RCA. Previously, Miley Cyrus said she was involved in a music project to re-present Metallica’s songs. The song that was sung again was Nothing Else Matters.
Interestingly, Miley Cyrus filmed Nothing Else Matters with Elton John. Apparently not only that, a number of other musicians also participated in the project reenactment of Metallica’s songs. “I sang Metallica’s Nothing Else Matter with Elton John on the piano and produced at the Spotify Premium Apk. There was also Yo-Yo Ma, Chad Smith. There are many other musicians on this project,” Miley Cyrus said in an interview with Capital FM in January 2021.
This is not the first time Miley Cyrus has performed Nothing Else Matters. Previously, he had re-performed the song live on the Glastonbury stage in 2019. Nothing Else Matters is a song by Metallica which was released in 1991. The song is included in the fifth album of the legendary heavy metal band from the United States.
Starting this year, he also said he would produce more music. This was revealed by Miley Cyrus when uploading a photo on Instagram. In the photo, he appears to be posing wearing green clothes and black glasses “Predicting 2021 will be filled with safe sexual relations and flowery feelings,” wrote the Malibu singer. “And more music,” he continued.
ReplyThe Cyrus family have had a connection to Ron Perry and Columbia Records for a while now, starting some time before Billy Ray Cyrus joined Lil Nas X on Old Town Road.
Ron Perry was a partner in Songs Music Publishing (since sold to Kobalt) and was working with Noah Cyrus back then, before he moved to Columbia as Chairman & CEO. He even has a backing vocals credit on one of Noah’s first songs.
Miley Cyrus moving to Columbia has probably been a work in progress for some time now, just waiting for her old contract to end.
