ROM would be a fine winner. Gaga won before but Ariana definitely deserves to win VOTY at least once. The fact that Camila won before her is laughable. That Havana win might’ve ruined MTV’s credibility for years to come.

I think Ariana should win at least once, but not for a mediocre video that was made for a mediocre song.

The VMA’s credibility has run out since Wrecking Ball beat Chandelier.

Lol “Wrecking Ball” is iconic and deserved its win.

The VMAs lost credibility when the shows became unbearable to watch. 2009 was the last memorable telecast.

2010 had the meat dress and McQueen dress and Bad Romance snatching awards left and right. But ok

2009 had the MJ tribute, Kanye vs Taylor, Lil’ Mama jumping on stage, Gaga hanging from the ceiling, & Beyoncé. Enough said.

I didn’t say anything about 2009, but saying 2010 wasn’t memorable is just not true.

2009 was indeed the peak of the VMAs.

    More final predictions.

I see Gaga and Dua leading the nominations this year if not then Harry Styles, Roddy Ricch, The Weeknd or BTS.

The decline started in 2007. That was the worst produced show in their history.

How come VMAs been declining since 2007 if 2010-2011 was its biggest ratings ever?
You could say ever since 2015 it’s in a steady fall both in ratings, and since not even the popular stars from each time are bothering to show up (unless they are arranged to win big). Not because your fave isn’t nom’d anymore

The VMAs suffered from horrible winners, terrible producing, lackluster hosts, underwhelming performances, and MTV’s decision to STOP PLAYING MUSIC VIDEOS.

Fun fact: the VMA ratings always increased from the previous year every year Gaga attended. Partly just a coincidence, altho I do genuinely think she helped built the momentum for its ratings peak in 2011.

And I do think MTV is eager to get her back on the show now that she hasn’t attended in 7 years and ROM is her first more elobarate video since 2013 too. And also since they couldn’t use her with ASIB like other award shows.

and MTV’s decision to STOP PLAYING MUSIC VIDEOS.

and that’s why VMA lost its credibility at least a decade ago. MTV doesn’t mean “Music Television” to begin with – added to the fact they are voting-based (unlike its peak years) and reward whoever buys their wins agrees to perform in such a decadent award show…… TCA-level.
