The VMAS announced the first 3 performers of the 2020 VMAS:
BTS, Doja Cat and J.Balvin.
BTS will perform their upcoming single Dynamite.
Rooting for BTS and Doja.August 4, 2020 at 8:43 am #1203626056
Well that’s ensuring the ratings will be huge already. throw in taylor, gaga and grande, and drake and it might be even bigger than the last few yearsAugust 4, 2020 at 8:57 am #1203626098
Is good to see genre representation for now: BTS from K-POP, Doja Cat from Hip Hop and J.Balvin from Latin.
This year’s VMAS will be their best in years.August 4, 2020 at 1:29 pm #1203626651
We have had hip hop and reggaeton acts for two years, however, finally bringing Kpop to the ceremony is a novelty. Really surprising would be to see an alternative or rock performance, or even an EDM performance despite being ignored this year.August 4, 2020 at 1:35 pm #1203626661
And I really hope that the K-Pop award will be announced during the ceremony because not even MTV takes into account the awards during the red carpet (Billie Eilish (Best push) and Bebe Rexha’s speeches didn’t even go up in the winners’ video)August 4, 2020 at 1:45 pm #1203626683
Although now that I remember we had a couple of Rock / Alt presentations in recent years (30STM in 2017 and PATD! In 2018) what would be interesting would be for the categories to be announced during the ceremony and for that the winner has to attend.August 4, 2020 at 1:52 pm #1203626703
I hope they book the VOTY presenter in favor of Gaga. Cher again would be great, maybe virtually as she’s in the risk group. Or Bradley or Tony.August 4, 2020 at 2:10 pm #1203626735
I think that if MTV wants surprise wins, then they will spread the wealth. But Gaga deserves the most.August 4, 2020 at 2:17 pm #1203626748

And that’s not even a guarantee that the awards will be presented on the main show. I remember that FOB was there for their most recent win (for “Uma Thurman” maybe?) and they still had to accept the award on the red carpet. And 30STM was in the same situation back in 2013.
If I’m not mistaken, the last time the Rock award was presented on the main show was when Lorde won it… Like, I get that rock artists need to show up to have their award be given the time of day, but MTV doesn’t help matters by treating them like afterthoughts when they do show up lol
