Good logic. It happened at MTV Europe
Its still not the same thing, Gangnam Style was a MOMENT in pop culture, it was viral, to the point that you can reference it to the average person today and they’ll still know what you’re talking about nearly 10 years later. Those views, and the views of his following videos weren’t the effects of mass streaming from fans for a song that will fall out of the charts a week later. Maybe it could get a nom, for that particular reason, but doesn’t mean it deserves to win .July 10, 2020 at 8:17 am #1203579883

Ariana having [rumoured] 11 nominations in her droplet era… I smell some Queen things.July 10, 2020 at 3:30 pm #1203580414
Video of the Year either Blinding Lights / The Box. Here for Styles getting it.July 10, 2020 at 6:29 pm #1203580609
two white artists winning the main award in this climate?
MTV doesn’t give a F about that – see “Havana” and “This is America”. They’ll give “Rain On Me” VOTY, Song of the Summer (not even of May) and put Ariana to give Vanguard to Gaga, they are extremely predictable. MTV doesn’t stand for “Music Television” no more.
I don’t care about VMAs anymore by the way, after that 2018 mess. Anyways, they’ll put “Blinding Lights” in R&B despite being a pop song – just to see how they care about BLM and political climate – and The Weeknd is not winning anything, not even the artistic ones. Roddy will snatch Best Direction, and Best Music Video at the Grammys.July 10, 2020 at 6:35 pm #1203580617
Sorry if I sounded aggressive lol just thought it was the best way to explain. That’s my point of view about MTV VMAs in 2020 – an outdated award show.
