Finally some news on the Mumford front: their 3rd studio album, Wilder Mind, is set to be released May 3rd, with their first single being titled “Believe” out next month.
It’s supposed to be their first “electric” album, so it will probably stay in the same vein as their folk-rock roots, but instead of banjos, we’ll have electric guitars and less acoustics. Sounds intriguing!
Here is the teaser (https://www.youtube.com/wat ch?v=MzHi4xpk8UE), and some more information: http://consequenceofsound.net/2015/03/mumford-sons-announce-new-album-wilder-mind/March 2, 2015 at 10:37 am #410068
I cannot wait for this album!March 2, 2015 at 5:56 pm #410069
Great that they didn’t break up. That teaser is very intriguing. It sounds solid. My initial thought was I don’t want them to change their sound, but then, the reality is, as much as I like Babel, all those songs sound the same (I still wouldn’t be able to tell you after 10 seconds what song is what, and it all just sounds like their debut)…so maybe it’s good they are mixing things up.March 3, 2015 at 9:16 am #410070
Babel was a beautiful, well-crafted album. Each song was distinct.
However, after the two-punch of Sigh No More and Babel, I’m glad they’re shifting their sound a little bit. Sounds like it will be the same types of soaring songs as before, but powered more by electric guitars rather than strings and banjos. I think it will work very well for them.March 3, 2015 at 6:30 pm #410071
Can’t wait for this! The album already reached the top of the iTunes chart. New single, “Believe” is premiering next Monday on BBC1. I think this new sound will be good for them. Babel was really just a commercialized SMN, which is fine, but it’s not something you can build a career around. A new step is needed and I can’t wait to get my hands on this. I’m seeing them at Bonnaroo this summer and I alraedy know it’s going to be great.
I think if this new sound clicks and they end up with at least one cross-over song another AOTY nomination won’t be out of question. It’s been some time since Babel and I think people are ready for more Mumford so initial sales will be solid I think.March 7, 2015 at 12:15 pm #410072

Not completely sold on “Believe” yet. It is OK. The guitar solo just sounds so out of place, but I’m TRYING to give them the benefit of the doubt, trust me.
Maybe it will grow up on me like Florence’s “What Kind of Man” – which I love now.March 10, 2015 at 10:43 am #410074
“Believe” is excellent! Hot damn.March 10, 2015 at 11:50 am #410075
When did Coldplay change their name to Mumford and Sons?March 10, 2015 at 11:10 pm #410076
^Yes! I also thought it sounded quite Coldplay-ish. I love Coldplay though, so I quite like “Believe”.April 9, 2015 at 1:04 pm #410078
Digging it!April 9, 2015 at 1:58 pm #410079
Sounds very generic and like something any rock back out there could come up with. I’m missing their old “Mumford”-y vibe.April 17, 2015 at 8:34 pm #410080
Like the 2 new songs especially Believe but it definitely sounds Coldplay. LOL.
