New GF categories.

Personally, the GF needs to updated. I do think there are more than 4 things to award the music industry.

 

I do think they need to get rid of BNA, as it establishes that artist has to live up to that award they were given from their 7 other counterparts. Also, it’s their first year(s) in the general public, why award them for that? It becomes increasing hard for the Grammys to distinct who’s a new artist, while others like Roddy Ricch can release their debut album and won’t be considered a BNA nominee.

 

Also, they change ROTY and SOTY, as ROTY overlaps with SOTY.

Some Ideas (we will think names later)

Album of the Year

Artist of the Year

Song of the Year (where this one is talking about the witting and composition)

Production of the Year (how it’s produced)

Vocals of the Year (an artist’s vocals, whether if they are rapping or singing)

Record of the Year (actually mean how it’s mixed and mastered)

Best Collaboration of the Year

Best Artwork/Visuals (I know that is a category, but that needs to be in the GF)

Chile the 4 general field categories are just fine.

I do believe there should be a Grammy for Achievement In Production Design for a Live Tour.

I don’t know how it could possibly work, but maybe Artist of the Year? I feel like the category would be more based on how the Artist themselves impacted the year.

I’d keep the GF categories the way they are, but change BNA back to 5 nominees only. 8 noms are too much and makes the category look weak.

they are not fine lol. Most of the SOTY winners are Pop Artists.

Record of the Year

Artist of the Year (that sounds cheesy and VMA style but that category is needed)

 

I also really love the idea of having ROTY and SOTY, but the voters don’t distinguish these two, so it should be combined. Adding billion categories ala Best Vocals, Best Collab etc must not happen.

Change BNA to Artist of the Year and you’d be fine. Also teach voters the difference between ROTY and SOTY please.

That’s generally because the Best Pop Song doesn’t exist for whatever reason so the only way to reward pop writing is in SOTY.

Artist of the year is not needed. Grammys award albums and songs based on their quality/popularity. That’s what makes them so “prestigious”. They don’t need to award an artist for being the best out there since this comes off a little non-professional. Also artist of the year would be the probably the same as AOTY winner or SOTY/ROTY winners.

2020: Billie Eilish

2019:Childish Gambino or Kacey

2018: Brumo

2017: Adele

2016: Taylor

2015: Sam Smith

and so on…

ROTY and SOTY should be merged. We don’t need both categories. Most of the times the same song wins both so it’s so unnecessary. It shouls be:

Best New Artist with updated rules

Album Of The Year

Record Of The Year which includes everyone who worked on the song

I also petition to add a pop song category there as well as change Urban Contemporary to best Alternative/Contemporary R&B Album. The Urban part just sounds terrible.
