Macy Gray received 5 Grammy nominations over a two year period of 2000 and 2001 for Best New Artist, R&B Female for Do Something and Pop Female, Record and Song of the Year for I Try. After that, she hasn’t received any other nominations.

Avril Lavigne received 8 Grammy nominations over a two year period of 2003 and 2004 for Best New Artist, Pop Female and Song of the Year for Complicated and I’m With You, Rock Female for Sk8er Boi and Losing Grip. After that, she hasn’t received any other nominations. Macy Gray has deserved nominations for Sexual Revolution and some of her subsequent albums.

Taylor Dayne received three Grammy nominations in 1989 for Pop Female for her album, R&B Female and R&B Song for I’ll Always Love You. She didn’t receive any nominations for Love Will Lead You Back which would have been a deserving Pop Female nominee.

Are there others that received a number of nominations for their debut and then nothing afterwards?

Macklemore got 7 nominations (and won four) for The Heist and haven’t been nominated since.

Vanessa Carlton got 3 nods (Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s)) for her debut and was never nominated again.

I don’t think Marc Cohn was nominated for anymore Grammys after his multiple nominations and BNA win in 1991-92.

    J. Lo was nominated for 2 Grammys for her debut album On The 6 (Best Dance Recording for Waiting for Tonight & Let’s Get Loud) and nothing since. She easily could have racked up some more nominations for Dance Recording and a few for Rap/Sung Collaboration.

She should’ve been nominated for I’m Real, maybe Aint it Funny, but I think Remixes weren’t elegible back then and those were officially remixes from her original much less succesful original songs. But she deserved those nods. And hell yes she should’ve been nominated again, probably for dance recording.

Carly Rae Jepsen (According to many of you she should’ve been nominated again).

    Leona Lewis.

I was sure it will be Gwen Stefani but she was nominated for “The Sweet Escape” for Pop Collaboration with Akon. Nothing in 10 years since then, though.

Avril hasn’t been nominated since then because she said that the grammys were a piece of shit or something like that, and then the Accademy decided not to nominate her again. This had a verb, but I don’t remember.

I don’t think this is true, Avril has said recently that she dreams of winning a Grammy… But since the Avril who said that is actually a clone of the original, I can’t be sure.
