Macy Gray received 5 Grammy nominations over a two year period of 2000 and 2001 for Best New Artist, R&B Female for Do Something and Pop Female, Record and Song of the Year for I Try. After that, she hasn’t received any other nominations.
Avril Lavigne received 8 Grammy nominations over a two year period of 2003 and 2004 for Best New Artist, Pop Female and Song of the Year for Complicated and I’m With You, Rock Female for Sk8er Boi and Losing Grip. After that, she hasn’t received any other nominations. Macy Gray has deserved nominations for Sexual Revolution and some of her subsequent albums.
Taylor Dayne received three Grammy nominations in 1989 for Pop Female for her album, R&B Female and R&B Song for I’ll Always Love You. She didn’t receive any nominations for Love Will Lead You Back which would have been a deserving Pop Female nominee.
Are there others that received a number of nominations for their debut and then nothing afterwards?

She easily could have racked up some more nominations for Dance Recording and a few for Rap/Sung Collaboration.

She should’ve been nominated for I’m Real, maybe Aint it Funny, but I think Remixes weren’t elegible back then and those were officially remixes from her original much less succesful original songs. But she deserved those nods. And hell yes she should’ve been nominated again, probably for dance recording.

I don’t think this is true, Avril has said recently that she dreams of winning a Grammy… But since the Avril who said that is actually a clone of the original, I can’t be sure.
