Honey, “Wild Side” dropping to #45 is NOT a surprise. We all knew the song was going to plummet down the charts.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 11, 2021 at 8:05 am #1204391517Normani tanked hard tbh. I don’t think she’s ever going to have a very successful solo career. She took too long to release new music.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 11, 2021 at 8:51 am #1204391587“Wild Side” is a cute song but it wasn’t the best lead single. Even Cardi B couldn’t save it from flopping. Normani, you in danger girl.

I mean, all you need is one song to really pop off. So, I wouldn’t say never. But it was a mistake to wait so long between “Wild Side” and “Motivation”. It killed a lot of her momentum. She also just hasn’t had that obvious hit song.

I mean, I wouldn’t go that far especially before Normani has even released her debut album, which will be released before the end of the year. She’s just getting started so let’s just wait and see & then we can judge. Also, why are people acting like “charting” was like it was 10 years ago? The “charts” (especially Billboard) have mainly become fueled/manipulated by overactive fan cliques. Just look at the “butter” chart fraudulence. At this point, charts are becoming more and more irrelevant to everyone besides delusional Twitter stans. “Charting” doesn’t reflect how good the music is.

I beg to differ. I think Normani has the talent and the star quality. But, unfortunately has become a victim of bad/terrible marketing and mismanagement which was made worse by the constant withholding of her music.

*Because there is actual music. But they’re of bad/subpar quality.August 12, 2021 at 9:11 am #1204393586I agree, Normani has the talent, the looks and the It factor. Her label, her management and her songs just aren’t good enough. In the case of her songs the problem is that they aren’t catchy enough. Plenty of lame songs chart for weeks but the difference is they are catchy. If you have a GREAT catchy slow R&B song then sure make it a single but Wild Side isn’t great, it’s merely solid.
Normani has had some success so I continue to disagree with the flop narrative but is she where her fans want her to be? No. Normani needs a song that spends more than one week in the top 40.

Yeah and I agree too. The HUGE gap in between the music/singles definitely didn’t help.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 12, 2021 at 9:48 am #1204393635Normani actually had her debut album ready to go in early 2020 but the label scrapped it and told her to go back to the drawing board. Also, people seem to forget that currently Normani only has 6 official solo singles. 1. Loves Lies (5×’s Platinum) 2. Dancing With A Stranger (4×’s Platinum) 3. Waves 4. Motivation (Platinum) 5. Diamonds 6. Wildside (nearing gold certification). As someone who is actively a part of her fandom (the Nation) I think most of us don’t expect her to be anywhere (in terms of stardom) , at least not yet. We just want her to develop into the artist that she wants to be and for people to stop judging her and calling her a “flop” before she’s even released anything. “Wildside” is just ONE SONG and it was released after almost 2 years of her not putting out music. The fact that she’s as talked about and relevant as she is even without a debut album speaks for itself. Whether people like it or not Normani does have that star potential. Its up to her to use and I’m sure she will.

Yes. To be fair, we all want Normani to succeed and we all certainly wish her the best. It can be frustrating to see her music continously getting held back and underperform.. :((
ReplyCopy URLAugust 12, 2021 at 10:35 am #1204393705RCA should not delay her Album again. Release another single later and just release the Album after that. Let her first Album out. You can never guarantee success anyway.
August 12, 2021 at 11:12 am #1204393793Normani has a big streaming fan base. Motivation went Platinum because of it. Don’t be surprised if Wild Side goes Gold.
The guy who signed Normani is leaving and that might be a detriment to her album being released.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 12, 2021 at 6:28 pm #1204394406Honey, get real! A plethora of artists have the looks and talent. That does NOT guarantee success. Normani brings nothing exciting to the table. Her vocals are mediocre and the dancing is tired. She will never be a star. Facts are facts!

Really? Well. Everytime I see Normani I immediately go “wow, this woman is meant to be like: the biggest popstar in the world” like she gives me that..
