There are songs in which the original is much better than the remake, but sometimes the remake can breathe new life into the original version. There are times where both or all versions are equally good.
I like both versions of Piece of My Heart – Janice Joplin’s version is more popular, but the version by Erma Franklin (Aretha’s sister) is also very good.
Are there songs that you like the original better or the remake better or all versions equally the same?May 3, 2020 at 3:41 pm #1203460942This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.May 3, 2020 at 6:58 pm #1203461233

The first song that came to my mind when seeing this chat was “The Bottle Let Me Down” from LeAnn Rimes which of course was done first by the late and legendary Merle Haggard. To me, not only is her copy NOTHING like his, but the song is finally done the way that it should’ve been done from the very beginning.
God bless you and LeAnn always!!!
Holly (a day one fan of her)

Forgot to mention Tank, “I Can’t Make You Love Me” & Maxwell, “This Woman’s Work”
Which version of I Can’t Make You Love Me?
I have heard versions of I Can’t Make You Love Me by Bonnie Raitt, Prince and George Michael and I like Bonnie Raitt’s version the best and it is amazing in concert.May 4, 2020 at 7:33 am #1203462027

I like Tina Turner’s version of Let’s Stay Together better than Al Green’s version.
Turn The Beat Around – I like both both versions by Vickie Sue Robinson and Gloria Estefan. They actually kind of sound alike a little bit.May 4, 2020 at 7:40 am #1203462051

1. I Will Always Love You: Dolly’s version & Whitney’s version are so different and both great individually.
2. I’ll Be There: I think Mariah’s version is far superior.
3. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun: Cyndi by far!
I’ll think of more later.May 4, 2020 at 8:13 am #1203462105
Isn’t Proud Mary the all time winner here?
CCR’s version is great, but, come on!
Both versions of Always Something There to Remind Me are great.May 5, 2020 at 12:12 pm #1203465067
Tina Turner’s version of Proud Mary is much superior than Creedance Clearwater Revival’s version. Whoever wrote Proud Mary needs to thank Tina Turner for breathing so much life into that song.May 5, 2020 at 12:52 pm #1203465120
