Her win for R&B female vocalist for the album BURNIN’ was in a tie with Lisa Fischer for the single “How Can I Ease the Pain”.

Yes, it was. Burnin’ was the best of the albums nominated in this category and Lisa Fischer’s How Can I Ease The Pain is the best of the singles.

Burnin’ is one of Patti LaBelle’s best albums and I am soo glad that she won. Feels Like Another One is one of the earlier examples of a singer collaborating with a rapper (Big Daddy Kane). I know Chaka Khan did it in 1984 with I Feel For You, but it was sometime before this happened again.

I wish LaBelle would have won for “When You Talk About Love”, as much as I love Badu’s burst onto the scene with “On & On”.

I was rooting for Patti LaBelle too for When You Talk About Love.

Honey, I enjoy Patti LaBelle’s “When You Talk About Love.”  However, Erykah Badu deserved her Best Female R&B Vocal Performance win.  “On & On” is so infectious.

And so is When You Talk About Love. Especially towards the end when Patty is saying Say My Name – Patti! Patti!

Patti delivered and should have won.
