Doesn’t that happen with all artists though? Beyonce, Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber Adele, Taylor, Gaga etc. They all get talked about, called overrated etc. My point is why do you people get so butthurt when bts is being talked about? Like can you grow up? People are allowed to voice their opinions without the whining and complaining. Now look what you’ve done.
Hahahaha. When someone voices their opinion they should be ready to face counter-arguements and criticisms (regarding that opinion). You speak as if Gucci and Pip don’t get bashed for spewing hate on Taylor and Adele respectively. Both of us can agree that more or less every artist gets shitted on here, but people are entitled defend artists as well. I didn’t send anyone DTs or verbally assault anyone here for you to overreact like this.
ReplyCopy URLI don’t want to give away my age…because I’m older than dirt…but I was alive and remember the period when they released their music that they are best known for. They didn’t deserve to win back then…when Fleetwood Mac rightfully reigned supreme. They’re good, yes, but they were not the best at that time. There was so much incredible music back then…Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Elton John, Simon and Garfunkel, James Taylor, Carly Simon, Creedence Clearwater Revival, etc. It was the golden age of bands.
I agree that the music back then was really good, especially in the 1970’s/ 1980’s Pop landscape, but ABBA are no small fries. They have sold 150 million records worldwide and are regarded as one of the best Pop groups of all time. You say that ABBA didn’t deserve to win yet bts do deserve to win based on what? Just because their fandom wants them to? Seems a bit odd. ABBA is a legendary group and the Grammy’s has a soft spot for legends that have never won. Of course, I could be wrong but I as well as most other people on Goldderby have predicted ABBA to win.

This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.I said that Abba did not deserve to win back when their best known music originally came out because artists like Stevie Wonder, Fleedwood Mac, the Eagles, Bette Midler and all the others I mentioned before were dominating with better music. The only reason I see people saying Abba could win this time is to make up for them not winning back then, not because they think it’s the best song. As for My Universe…the song is so good and has a great message, about how when people love each other and want to be together, even if people don’t want or think they should be together, the heart wants what it wants and will overcome obstacles regardless of race, gender, sexual identity, religion, country/culture, etc.
“Better music” according to who? Just because ABBA wasn’t nominated for a Grammy doesn’t mean that the artists who were had “better music”. They all had equally good music. Plus, outside of a few acts like the Beatles, part of Fleetwood Mac and some other acts sprinkled here and there the Grammy’s weren’t as open to foreign acts as they are now. Personally, I think that all of the current songs nominated in BPDG are equally okay but none of them are exceptional or timeless. “My Universe” is an alright song but it’s not extraordinary or spectacular. I’m actually a Coldplay fan and I don’t think it’s anywhere near one of their best songs. I’m sticking with ABBA but who knows.
ReplyCopy URLI think I’m the only BTS fan here. I don’t think I’m oversensitive at all. I’m not whining or complaining either. I’ve made an effort to correct some things that people were either incorrect about or just misunderstood or didn’t have the full context. I did get a bit frustrated having to repeat myself when some people were completely ignoring the main point I was making, but hey, I’m only human, lol. If anything some of the replies to me have been a bit oversensitive and emotional and at times very aggressive and somewhat nasty/mean. I find it really bizarre that some people get so bent out of shape over 7 guys who are extremely kind, humble and entirely unproblematic. It’s really weird.
I wasn’t talking about you but alright. Though, maybe I should have, because in your previous comments you accused a user of having “irrational hatred towards bts” just because they rightfully pointed out that most of the awards bts won in the U.S. were fan voted. Ok we get it. You’re a fan. Is it really that serious?

Girl i think you can’t read very well. I never posed myself, BTS or any other artist as a victim. And i did say that all artist get treated the same way. And if criticism are valid then so are counter-criticisms. It is YOU who is getting butthurt over me defending an artist. Agreed. Pop Duo/Group has been a wasteland for quite a few years now, with lot of filler nominees. They could have avoided it this year by nominating “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” from Encanto or “Enemy” by Imagine Dragons. I am not a huge fan of those songs but those would have been a better nominee than “Bam Bam”.

You see, here we go again. This is exactly what I’m talking about. Who said that I hate them? I’m definitely not their biggest fan but I’m not a fan of a lot of artists. Does that mean that I hate them all as well? It’s the perpetual victimhood for me. You can defend whomever you choose but why are you so upset about other people’s opinions about an artist/group that you like? Be mature and grow up! Counter criticize with facts & logic not by whining like a 2 year old because you think that someone is critiquing bts.

Agreed and done! Diana Ross has never won a Grammy (outside of a Lifetime Achievement award) for her music and ABBA hasn’t won anything at all. Hopefully this will be the year that the Grammy’s honors those 2 legendary acts. They are already doing it for Hip-Hop so I’m curious to see if they will spread the love for the Pop categories.
