So I looked up the rules for soundtracks and the answer to the question I’m looking for is still a bit unclear.

If “Burlesque” wins Best Compilation Soundtrack, will the Grammy go to Christina (since she has 90% of the tracks) and the producers or just the producers?

If soundtracks are nominated for AOTY now, all the various artists win, right? Back when “Waiting To Exhale” was nominated for AOTY, only Babyface would’ve gotten the Grammy then, correct?

That’s a good question. All I know is that Christina is the only artist that is credit on the Burlesque nomination.

I assume that Christina gets it since the AMPAS’ official nom list only credits her? As for the second question, I think yes.

They must have given out a hell of a lot of Grammys when the O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack won lol.

I dont think so. Didn’t when The Bodyguard won AOTY in the 90’s, Whitney was one of the only ones credited as the win? I think there were other artists on there like Kenny G who werent credited.

This is such a good question that I wish an expert could answer. I was wondering it when I saw that “Glee: The Music, Vol. 4” was nominated. If it wins, does that mean the entire cast plus guest acts (Paltrow, Chenoweth) get a Grammy as well? What are the rules to this?!

Exactly, especially in regards to ‘Glee’ because they’re usually listed as GLEE CAST, so who does that include when several songs are lead by non-Glee cast members such as Paltrow who has quite a few numbers on that Volume…? If anyone has an official answer, pretty please post it. Thanks!

Burlesque- Christina Aguilera would get a Grammy. The producers would too. Cher would not, unless it was AOTY.

Waiting to Exhale- Both Babyface and Whitney Houston were nominated. Both were executive producers, I’m guessing that’s why. Mary J Blige, Brandy, etc were not mentioned.

The Bodyguard- Whitney Houston’s name was said twice… One for the artist who recorded the majority of the songs and one as producer. The other artists (eg Lisa Stansfield) did not receive Grammys while every producer did.

No. If the Artist isnt listed as a producer or isnt credited on the Soundtrack they wont receive a Grammy. When Whitney won with “The Bodyguard” Bebe Winans,Babyface,David Foster and herself won AOTY because they were all listed as Producers. Whitney was the only Artist to record more than 1 song, she has 6, which is basically a whole album (MJ’s “Thriller” only had 9 songs), and thus why she won the Grammy.

I think Christina is the only credited artist, because she makes up like 80% of the soundtrack. But is she credited for the win as well?

If Burlesque wins, Christina Aguilera would win the Grammy.  She serves as one of the producers for the soundtrack.

^Yup, being that she co-produced the whole Sundtrack and that 90% of the music is from her, she would deservingly get the Grammy Award, the Movie was her and Cher, but the soundrack it more of just Christina and she sure does shine on those records on the disc.
