Pretty sure the OP is referring to albums release years not and ceremony year.

Imagine saying WWFA WDWG should not have been nominated for AOTY…doesn’t make any sense

#1. The Suburbs – Arcade Fire

Perhaps I will come back and rank all the others, but I don’t really listen to them these days. Maybe a song here and there.

Album of the Year should be an album you’d want to play from start to finish decades later and most of these aren’t doing it for me just a few years later.

Random Access Memories had some great music and I still love Get Lucky and Lose Yourself to Dance, but not many of the others from that album.

Same with Golden Hour and most of the others.

People hate 1989 because Taylor beat Kendrick, but although Kendrick deserved an AOTY win, this doesn’t make 1989 a bad album. There are some great pop songs, although there are one or two where Taylor should have hit the delete before sending it to mastering. Might be top 5 here.

Beck has made some great music and I appreciate the fact that Morning Phase is made of self written songs, but it’s difficult to rank it higher than Midnight Vultures, Odelay or most of his earlier work. The rock/alternative nominee for AOTY that year should have been St. Vincent.

Babel and 24K Magic probably rank 9 and 10 in my list.

    1. Golden Hour
    2. The Suburbs
    3. Random Access Memories
    4. 21
    5. 24K Magic
    6. Morning Phase
    7. 1989
    8. Babel
    9. 25
    10. When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?

Only the Top 4 were worthy winners.
