Rap has been horrifically tragic this year to the point where J. Cole is competitive for a WIN.

To be fair, he actually deserves to win.

He’s considered top tier of the new school rappers (right up there with Kendrick Lamar and Drake), yet he doesn’t have the Grammy recognition they do. “Middle Child” deserves to win Best Rap Performance or Song. He will just have to get passed the panel.

Grammys like to play catch up, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Middle Child popped up in ROTY or something like that or even “a lot”.  I’m not a fan of J. Cole whatsoever but I wouldn’t be upset with him winning in this terrible year.

Honey, if J. Cole (who is very deserving) doesn’t win in this shitty year, he’ll never win a Grammy

If he can’t win now, then he should never submit again.

Young Thug’s album is pretty good and getting largely positive reviews. Pitchfork gave him an 8.4 out of 10. He may have a shot for Best Rap Album and The London (with Travis Scott and J Cole) has a shot at best rap performance. Thoughts? I have it between him, Tyler, and Meek.

I’m not sure if it’s a whole album or just a collection of new songs as she described it.

Either way this the best news today!!

What a let down, lmao. She made us wait 15 years for a 5 song EP that has no good songs on it.

Yea, I don’t think Missy is getting any noms for this project. Bummer.

I will eventually listen to Rhapsody’s new album though since she was nominated in Rap Album for her last project.

I think Rapsody has another great shot at scoring a Rap Album nomination for her celebration of black women on Eve. Plus she’s backed by collaborations D’Angelo, J. Cole and Queen Latifah.

Rap was so competitive in the last 2 years. But this year is really weak.

It’s the perfect time for J. Cole to win. If he doesn’t win this year he will be the “Nas” of his generation when it comes to Grammy wins.

However if he wins I hope he wins for “A Lot”. I don’t like Middle Child.

    Meek Mill – Championships
    Anderson .Paak – Oxnard
    21 Savage – I Am > I Was
Rapsody – Eve OR Megan Thee Stallion – Fever
    Tyler, the Creator – Igor

This year’s Best Rap Album nominees?

I forgot about Oxnard. If it gets nominated, Paak could easily win since it seems Rap voters love him.
