In a weak year for rap, why wouldn’t they nominate a Nipsey song to at least honor his legacy after his passing since no album is contention? And to be fair, Nipsey’s death hit the Hip Hop world harder than Mac’s did. I don’t see the rap panel snubbing “Higher” in Rap/Sung. That song is a lock for a nomination.

Honoring Nipsey by nominating a DJ Khaled song just seems… lame. Especially when he’s been honored at other award shows already, and was previously recognized by the Grammys. It feels like a different situation from when Mac died but that’s just a personal feeling. Your logic makes sense too.

How do we feel about “Money in the Grave”’s chance of being nominated in Rap Performance?
I’m fairly certain that Drake will get a nomination in that category, and currently I’m predicting it for “Going Bad”. However, “Money in the Grave” currently being a hit, while “Going Bad” is old news now, is making me think about predicting the former instead.

Is Money in the Grave really a hit? It only was in the top ten for one or two weeks. I think Drizzy has a much better chance getting nominated for Best Rap/Sung Performance with Chris Brown for “No Guidance”.

It has consistently been in the Hot 100 top 15 since its release for 13 weeks, except for this week where it fell down to #21 due to Post’s album (it’s predicted to return to the top 20 next week). It is also currently #4 on Rhythmic radio and #3 on Urban radio (peaked #1 on both platforms).
It’s not one of his usual smashes, but it’s for sure a hit.

Yeah, but No Guidance has been in the top 10 literally since it came out.

I guess it could get nominated but like… why? It’s not an amazing song, it wasn’t a huge hit, and it’s not even attached to a big album. Going Bad has a way more interesting narrative, especially with Meek likely making it into Best Rap Album.

Is anyone predicting YBN Cordae? I’m wondering if RNP (ft. Anderson .Paak) could sneak in somewhere.

I think Rico Nasty could run for some categories, right? She’s been a great name in 2019 rap scene

DJ Khaled’s FYC ads don’t even mention Higher. I’m still not sold on that nomination.

My predictions are super thrown off thanks to:
    – Hot Girl Summer/Earfquake not being submitted to rap/sung
    – J.Cole and Meek not submitting to rap song
    – No Anderson.Paak submissions in rap song/performance
    – No Freddie Gibbs submissions in rap song/performance

    here’s what I’m thinking rn

    Best Rap Album:
    I Am > I Was – 21 Savage
Bandana – Freddie Gibbs & Madlib
    Fever – Megan Thee Stallion
    IGOR – Tyler, the Creator
So Much Fun – Young Thug

    Best Rap Song:
    a lot – 21 Savage ft. J.Cole
    Suge – DaBaby
    [Rapsody submission]
Numb Numb Juice – Schoolboy Q
The London – Young Thug ft. J.Cole and Travis Scott

    Best Rap Performance:
    Act Up – City Girls
    Middle Child – J.Cole
Going Bad – Meek Mill ft. Drake
Clout – Offset ft. Cardi B
    Have Mercy – YBN Cordae

    Best Rap/Sung Performance:
Look Back At It – A Boogie wit da Hoodie
MOOD 4 EVA – Beyonce ft. Jay-Z and Childish Gambino
24/7 – Meek Mill ft. Ella Mai
Drip Too Hard – Lil Baby & Gunna
I Think – Tyler, the Creator

    – J.Cole and Meek not submitting to rap song

Is it confirmed that they didn’t submit there or is it just missing submissions?

I hope they don’t broadcast any Rap categories this year.
