Creepin’ in R&B why exactly?
It’s probably going to Melodic Rap. Or worse, Pop Duo.

Oh that’s true. When the Academy doesn’t know what category a song fits, then they just move it to Pop and Creepin’ could be this case.
Why nobody is predicting Stand Up by Jazmine Sullivan for Best Traditional R&B Performance and Best R&B Song?
ReplyCopy URLMarch 23, 2023 at 3:54 am #1205360805Honey, these R&B contenders are atrocious. BARF!
ReplyCopy URLMarch 23, 2023 at 8:49 am #1205361066Kill Bill is a crossover pop hit. It’s very competitive in the field. Depending on the lineup, Miley & Taylor might split votes and SZA can win. Nobody Gets Me wouldn’t even get nominated, let alone stand a chance at winning. SZA can definitely win Best R&B Performance with Snooze or even Blind. It’s not Best Traditional R&B Performance-y enough.
- Pop Solo Performance – Kill Bill
- R&B Performance – Snooze/Blind/Shirt
- Traditional R&B Performance – Gone Girl
- R&B Song – Blind or Snooze if RCA is brave enough
I do not think Low will be accepted in Best Melodic Rap Performance, just like HEATED last year. Beyoncé’s submission was placed in a different field yet she didn’t remove it despite having two songs in the ballot of a type A category.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 23, 2023 at 10:15 am #1205361212Honey, anything can get nominated in Best Traditional R&B Performance (see Beyoncé and Chloe x Halle). SZA can get a nomination in that category too.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 23, 2023 at 10:28 am #1205361231I don’t see Kill Bill as a lock in Pop field. This will be so low in the ballot and we obviously will have more pop hits in spring/summer. Kill Bill could be another Montero (Call Me By Your Name).
ReplyCopy URLMarch 23, 2023 at 10:43 am #1205361244SZA is the only sure thing here. Having the year that she has had so far, she probably has a Pop Solo nom locked up too.
If I were Miguel and Chris Brown, I might think it wise to release new live or acoustic versions of their hits “Sure Thing” and “Under the Influence.” Both, but especially the later, would have a likely shot at scoring performance noms given that they are two of the biggest R&B hits of the year (despite not having been released this year).
ReplyCopy URLMarch 23, 2023 at 11:28 am #1205361329Miguel shouldn’t waste the momentum he has right now by re-recording Sure Thing. He needs to drop a new single by June and an album in the Fall.
I also think Frank Ocean will drop by Coachella. Unsure if his stance on the Grammys have changed.

ReplyCopy URLMarch 23, 2023 at 4:40 pm #1205361762I would love to see Coco Jones get some love in the R&B field. Her What I Didn’t Tell You EP is great. I can definitely see her single ‘ICU’ getting into Performance and/or Song. It’s started gaining traction on TikTok so could be a hit.
Coco Jones & FLO both definitely deserve a BNA spot too!

ReplyCopy URLMarch 25, 2023 at 11:42 pm #1205363980Honey, if Fantasia releases in time, hope she gets Best R&B Performance, Best Traditional R&B Performance, and Best R&B Album nominations.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 26, 2023 at 10:00 am #1205364278Fantasia should have more than 1 Grammy. Hopefully a new album/The Color Purple will change that.
