would karma by summer walker be eligible? it’s from 2018 but i believe her team released it as a single sometime in november, although i can’t find the specific radio impact date but it got huge adds on urban radio near the end of that month. it’s viral on tiktok and expected to enter billboard hot 100 this week, although grammys snubbed over it and still over it so who knows

Honey, “Special” should go Best R&B Performance (it may get submitted to Pop).  “Naked” should be the Best Traditional R&B Performance submission for Lizzo.

I doubt it, especially if it was released all the way in 2018. I think the new version in November was just a sped up version, and I’d be very shocked if the Grammys allowed that to be submitted. When it comes to things like that, it usually seems to only be the case if the song was attached to an album despite being a single earlier (for example, Truth Hurts by Lizzo was eligible in 2020 since she added it to the deluxe edition of her album).

Besides that, it doesn’t seem like Summer has much success with the Academy as she is always being snubbed, so even if it is eligible, I don’t see her getting in.

I’m not predicting Kali Uchis for any album/performance categories. She’s not known as r&b artist, she is latin and she is in the bottom of the ballot. I expect here a Summer Walker treatment.

I’m sorry for clarification.. I meant Special (SZA) from SOS not Lizzo.

SZA has a better chance at winning something in R&B this time than with CTRL. I can see CoCo Jones happening.. she has a lot of goodwill in the industry right now. It’ll be crazy if she breaks through but Summer or Ari couldn’t .

ICU will be submitted to R&B Performance.

SZA should submit the Special collab with SZA to Pop Duo and do a different single in R&B performance. Maybe she’ll have another single this summer. I can see her ending the era with “Naked” in R&B Performance.

2B Loved will be in Pop Solo perhaps.
