I don’t see it happening. Urban Contemporary albums tend to be R&B/ Hip-Hop albums with pop influences. Soul Searching is Pop with R&B and Hip-Hop influences – he’s no different to someone like Ariana Grande.

Agreed. At least half the songs on that album are clearly pop songs.

I can definitely understand why this debate is happening, but yeah… Bazzi is not R&B.

    Bazzi wouldn’t be nominated, regardless.

Yeah Oscar, we know you like him, but this is kind of a repeat of last year when we tried telling you “Mine” wasn’t getting in SOTY and he wasn’t getting in BNA.

Oh, I don’t think he’s getting in regardless. I just think he should be submitted in Urban Contemporary.

Khalid should be snubbed across the board. He gave up the sound that made him unique and now became a Jason Derulo basically.

    That’s… a stretch.

Are you coming for future Best Supporting Actor winner Jason Derulo?

    My name is NOT Susan.

Are there any upcoming R&B releases that could potentially nab a nom this year?

PJ Morton’s Paul was just released a few days ago

Lionel Richie has a live album coming out soon but that could be placed in Pop Album.

Normani(?) She could be placed in Pop but I don’t think she’ll get nominated either way.

I was JUST listening to PAUL today, such a good album! He could definitely nab a nomination, his recent history with the Grammys seems good! Not too sure about the Lionel Richie album though

Normai’s best chance of a nomination is with Waves in my opinion, it’ll set her up well for further recognition when she drops her album in time for the 2021 ceremony

PJ Morton’s “PAUL” is amazing. I love it from beginning to end. I can see it winning R&B Album. And I wouldn’t be mad at all. Even if he’s up against Mariah.

IKR!!! It’s got this really nice throwback vibe running through it but the production feels current and of-the-moment. He should submit it for Best R&B Album and ‘Built For Love’ (w Jasmine Sullivan) for Best Trad. R&B Performance. Caution is still THAT B*TCH though and will always hold a special place in my heart, the songs have aged like fine wine…

Depending on the placements, I see R&B Album looking close to this:
    PJ Morton, PAUL
    Solange, When I Get Home
    Ari Lennox, Shea Butter Baby
    Jamila Woods, Legacy! Legacy!
    Daniel Caesar, Case Study 01
