Yeah. Why do they do that? I don’t understand…
Different committees for the rap field and the general field.
The rap committee obviously didn’t want to nominate Scorpion for some reason. The mediocre critical reception may have had something to do with it.
My guess is that they wanted to shine a spotlight on Nipsey Hussle, honor an underlooked acclaimed project (Pusha T), and pay tribute to Mac Miller. Cardi and Travis were unignorable due to a combination of acclaim and success, and ultimately there was no room left for Drake.
Black Panther was shafted too.June 27, 2019 at 9:32 pm #1202954506

Daniel Caesar – CASE STUDY 01
No offence to any Khalid fans here, but he has little to no chance of getting an R&B album nomination. Daniel Caesar snapped on this one. If it can generate an Urban AC hit, it’s Grammy noms are basically secured since Daniel is a Grammy favourite.July 1, 2019 at 6:57 pm #1202958445This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.July 2, 2019 at 7:22 am #1202959009
How is Daniel a Grammy favourite? He has one Grammy, mostly thanks to the H.E.R hype, and two other noms, both of which he lost. Khalid is definitely the frontrunner in Urban Contemporary unless Lizzo snaps.
Best Urban Contemporary Album is Lizzo’s best shot at a win.
Hmm… Knowing the Grammys, Homecoming is probably getting the nomination and the win. Or is it ineligible?July 3, 2019 at 2:45 pm #1202961434
Homecoming is eligible. I wouldn’t be surprised if the R&B committee snubs Beyoncé. They’ve done it before. If she’s nominated, she poses a serious threat.
Its not impossible, but I have a feeling the R&B Category won’t take well to a live album. I think Before I Let Go has a chance at a song nomination though.July 3, 2019 at 9:57 pm #1202961794
Urban Contemporary : Lizzo vs Khalid vs Anderson Paak.
“Homecoming” made an impact for one week and sold/streamed very poorly despite the Netflix hype.
The Grammys could easily snub that album.

Yep, I take back what I said. Daniel Caesar isn’t getting any nominations this year.
On a general note, the Urban Contemporary category is going to be incredibly competitive this year.July 7, 2019 at 8:23 am #1202964756
Its not impossible, but I have a feeling the R&B Category won’t take well to a live album. I think Before I Let Go has a chance at a song nomination though.
Lalah Hathaway recently won R&B Album with a live album. If Beyoncé gets the nomination, she will be competitive for a win.July 7, 2019 at 11:14 am #1202964972
Daniel Caesar isn’t getting a nomination. His comments have really turned people against him, which is a dumb move on his part considering he isn’t even big enough to survive a backlash like that.
R&B panel is usually hot and cold when it comes to Beyoncé but if Homecoming gets nominated in either R&B Album or Urban Contemporary, she can very well win. Sales are a driving force for the win in the latter category and Khalid would be the frontrunner for that. But Homecoming received absolute raves (the album itself). Lizzo poses a threat as well.
