Slow Dancing in the Dark is not eligible.
So if Truth Hurts is Eligable despite it being released in 2017, why shouldn’t Slow Dancing In The Dark be eligible? I get Truth Hurts was released with Cuz I Love You, But Joji did release Ballads 1 with Slow Dancing In The Dark in Late 2018. Joji didn’t submit anything last year.July 20, 2019 at 6:19 pm #1202987566

I’m pretty sure he did submit??? If I’m wrong then he is eligible, but I don’t see why he wouldn’t submit given the song’s huge R&B radio success last year.July 20, 2019 at 6:28 pm #1202987570
Still overestimating Mariah, I see.July 21, 2019 at 8:26 pm #1202989145
Does anyone know if “Lovely Day” by Jose James & Lalah Hathaway qualifies for the Grammy this year? What about anything else by either of the two artists?
It was submitted for Grammy consideration in the Best Traditional R&B Performance category last year, but Charlie Wilson’s “Made for Love” (ft. Lalah) was chosen instead. To me, the latter was a MUCH stronger submission.
Who am I? You will find out soon enough. Ciao...for now!July 21, 2019 at 8:38 pm #1202989147
Traditional R&B Performance: Mariah Carey – “With You” R&B Song: “Steady Love” (India.Arie)
Switch these two. If any song from Caution gets nominated in the former category, it would be “Portrait.”

Still underestimating Mariah, I see. I’d like to see your predictions for (keyword) potential R&B album nominations.
I still don’t understand why people are sleeping on Mariah’s chances. It’d be such an obvious snub if Caution wasn’t even nominated.July 23, 2019 at 11:44 pm #1202993263
I wonder if this new Chance the Rapper project will garner him any nominations. Have y’all forgiven him for defending Kanye’s support for Trump?July 24, 2019 at 10:04 am #1202993925

Monica’s “Commitment” has been #1 on The adult R&B charts for 2 weeks. She’s no grammy darling but she is entering veteran status and she has 4 nominations under her belt. Can she sneak in?July 31, 2019 at 7:44 am #1203003744
Does anyone know if “Something Keeps Calling” by Raphael Saadiq is eligible? If it is, it would make a nice contender for Traditional R&B Performance might give it a win.July 31, 2019 at 5:14 pm #1203004687
Chris Brown has 5 previous R&B genre album nominations and 1 win. His current album debuted at #1 and still sits in the top 10. Plus he has a Top 10 hit with “No Guidance.” Idk if he’ll end up being nominated in Urban Contemporary Album, but I wouldn’t write him off. He definitely stands a chance.
They tend to at least nominate 1-2 mainstream acts in the category. He could be one of them.July 31, 2019 at 5:39 pm #1203004713
Chris Brown got in for a panned album after the Rihanna domestic issue. But then again, he was also snubbed for his biggest era Exclusive. It could go either way with him. He’s like a perennial nominee.
Khalid, Lizzo and Beyoncé are options for mainstream choices, so they don’t have to feel obliged to nominate Chris Brown.
