i think it will be 24k Magic, with Despacito the closest to upset it.

Honey, these nominations are awful! I’ll be shocked if anything other than “Despacito” or “HUMBLE.” wins.

We need RuPaul to read the nominations and say that they are all eliminated and then start reading 5 much more deserved nominees.

Is “Despacito” a lock here? Will “Humble.” or something else upset here?

I’m still on the fence about “Despacito” winning here.
“HUMBLE.” could prevail. The other three nominees don’t feel like winners.

Despacito has it locked here.  I still feel Kendrick would be shut out of the general field, I hope not tho’ Humble is a close 2nd. Redbone is my personal favorite..  I don’t mind an upset

I’ve come around to the idea that Kendrick will win one of his GF noms, rather than purely being competitive for Album. Humble winning Record would still be an impressive first for a rapper.

I’ll stick with that view – if DAMN wins in Album, then Despacito takes this.

Personally, I’d love to see Redbone win here, but I don’t think they’ll go for something not quite as commercially successful.

My problem with “Despacito” is that while it’s the biggest hit here, it is also extremely lightweight to the point it’s equivalent to all of the bubblegum Latin music of the ’00s. In any other year, this song would be an afterthought. Plus, Justin Bieber just weighs it down.

For some strange reason, I see an upset here. I think Kendrick Lamar has a chance because I don’t think the Grammys would nominate all of these black artists but have them all lose again the general field, especially with a scenario like Bruno Mars for AOTY and/or SOTY, Luis Fonsi for ROTY and/or SOTY and Alessia Cara for BNA. It would start the controversy that the Grammys are mainly willing to award non-black POC to not look “racist.”

“HUMBLE.” was a big record and extremely acclaimed. The way people of all ethnic backgrounds go crazy over “HUMBLE.” is pretty impressive. A Record of the Year would for it would say a lot more than “Despacito” winning. Plus, I can see a split between SOTY and ROTY – “Despacito” for SOTY and “HUMBLE.” for ROTY. Kendrick is more vulnerable in AOTY because of the inevitable love fest for Bruno Mars’ crossover to R&B, but I don’t think Record of the Year is as competitive.

Humble winning ROTY is very unlikely, I’d say even Bruno’s 24K Magic has a better chance, possibly even Redbone. It wasn’t a big pop crossover hit, and the bulk of the Grammy voting base is old white people who don’t care about songs like that.

If bigger, more pop-friendly singles like Hey Ya, See You Again, Lose Yourself, and Love the Way You Lie couldn’t win in the general field, I don’t see why Humble would.

Well for one, it’s not going up against a “Clocks,” “Thinking Out Loud” or “Need You Now.”

And I disagree that “24k Magic” has a better chance.

ROTY has never been about quality. Since AOTY and SOTY are most likely going to black artists, and SZA may win BNA, I don’t see why honoring Latinos would be so controversial. It’s a bigger minority than black people.

I said if the Grammys end up going non-black POC straight across the board, it would still stir up some controversy. It doesn’t matter which category it is. Since I think ROTY is even weaker than AOTY, I can see the voters throwing a bone to one of the black nominees, with “HUMBLE.” having the biggest chance.
