Hopefully, this means more black artists win in the general field.

This is a simple solution. In the GF, the final nominees should be the top five vote-getters and the final three should be something that made the top 20 but was picked by the review committee. In the genre categories with review committees, the final five should be three top vote-getters and two-three reviewed picks. Trusting the entire NARAS to make a non-populist decision with hundreds of submissions is a disaster waiting to happen.

This is the best solution right here. Inspired picks keep the Grammy’s fun and help you discover new music, but the committees as they are today have far too much power.

I don’t see how this helps much of ANYTHING? Voters are LAZYYYYYYYY, they are not gonna sift through pages upon pages looking for the most obscure artists to nominate. They will namecheck the hell out of already favored artists and, now, massively popular, top 40 hits at the very least. This means that the chances of indie artists/songs making the GF is slim to none.

Again, as I have kept saying throughout the years, the problem is the voters THEMSELVES. Change the VOTERS and tweak the review committee, boom bada bing.

I feel like the Grammys do these things to shut people up or prove a point. If a popular artist gets massively snubbed with voting at large, then it’d prove that The Weeknd’s situation had nothing to do with any review committees having a vendetta or any backstage drama; people simply did not vote for him.

They could have also easily revealed the top 20 to prove that.

I’m honestly scared that artists are gonna be too lazy for the requalification process, and then the voters in the first round will just be committee-types anyway. Considering how low participation was last year, it’s hard for me to put my faith in the music industry at large 💀

And considering he missed the Pop categories, in a field of 6, I’m still not sure he would make a dent even with the BRP removed.  He just lacked passion.

Even if they had and The Weeknd didn’t make the list, people would still question it.

The fact that The Weeknd failed to make a six-nominee Pop Solo nominee list was questionable to people.

I’m still dying on the hill that he didn’t make the top 20 at all in the GF!

Campaigning now is going to become very important, Oscars level. Indie artists are screwed.

They finally did it! Now let’s see what the popular vote is really made of in the general field. The power of Abel lol.

So now it’s back to being a popularity contest. Taylor Swift will likely end up in Album of the Year again.

I hate this because like the entire pop field will likely pop up in the General field if eligible.
