I think it would be a cool idea to discuss some retro news. There are things I am finding out things that I did not know.
Back in 2000, Swedish Pop Group ABBA was offered $1 billion to reunite on stage ($250 million per member). There were reports of 100 shows and some reports of 250 shows. ABBA declined the massive offer.
According to Insider, Bjorn Andersson was reported saying “It’s a hell of a lot of money to say no to, but we decided it wasn’t for us.” He was also quoted saying “”no amount of money would change our minds. Maybe we sometimes say it would be good to do a song together again, just a recording and nothing else, but I don’t know if that will happen — so don’t say that we will!”
Member Agnetha said ‘”We said no because they wanted 250 shows or something, it was incredible. No chance. We had done it.”
-The chemistry was still there but the Pop Icons declined the offer.
Do you guys think it would have been too many shows? Pre-Covid, who do you think could have or may have gotten an offer so massive? How much money were they expected to bring in?
