While I do not consider the albums you listed to have any creative risk ,  I agree w the rest and I’m perched to see if Riri will take an ANTi-esque risk again

Rihanna has grown on me.  I’ll take her over all of the bullshit that’s been released this cycle.  I like that she pulled an Adele and hasn’t released an album in four years.

Rihanna is a legend and she will have a similar career to Madonna and Mariah Carey.

Probably or not the last one to have that longevity of success in music career.
The Others that will do from all of female artists will be Gaga and Ariana.

I feel like Rihanna is the only artist who ever came close to Whitney Houston’s global superstardom. They both have enjoyed the goodwill of GP like no other. “GP artists” and icons in every sense.

ANTI is an average album, it’s has a couple of amazing tracks, but terrible deep cuts. Loud is my favorite Rihanna album but that’s a personal preference. Rihanna is not an “album” artist, just releases some amazing singles.

Blonde, TPAB, Norman, meldodrama, golden hour etc are NOT modern classics outside the lgbtq world. The definition of “modern classic” is having longevity/standing rest of time while being artistically fresh and kindof rebellious/deviating from present sitch at the same time having universal appeal. That is what pushes it to “modern classic” status. ANTi is just that. With good recurrent streams and palpable impact on post 2016 releases (look at the style shift) , ANTi is a modern classic in every sense. It’s impact will be evident 20 years from now while the albums you listed will be forgotten (only remembered as those artists’ magnum opuses, learn the difference)

I really don’t care about sales, Frank Ocean is way superior than Rihanna anyday quality-wise. Frank being queer has nothing to do with the quality of the album. The sound pallet is idiosyncratic. The lyrics are crisp. He created a moody album that we will won’t probably hear in a long time.

Don’t get me wrong Rihanna released many good songs on Anti: Deseperato, Kiss It Better, Need It Better, Higher, and Love on the Brain. The rest feel ehh or boring. Have you heard Woo or Work? Terrible. I will never forgive Rihanna for ripping off Same Old Mistakes by Tame Impala, probably one of my favorite outros of the 2010s.
