Hi! Decided to create this topic because I don’t see too many people discussing this. What are some of your predictions? IMO, both Arcade Fire and RHCP will have their albums nominated and probably some songs as well (The Lightning, Black Summer). On the Alternative Field, I guess Big Thief and The Smile’s new records have a big chance to be nominated, and I hope Snail Mail’s Valentine get a Best Rock Perf. nomination. Maybe Mitski’s The Only Heartbreaker for Best Rock Song? On the Rock Field, i would say Alison/Robert, The War On Drugs and Fontaines D.C. should get their albums nominated. I’m excited to hear Soccer Mommy’s new album and hoping that the Arctic Monkeys releases their new one soon.

Björk has a new album coming out this year, supposedly summer. If true, she’s a shoo-in in Alternative.

Björk, Big Thief and Arcade Fire are all l-words in Alternative Music Album.

Won’t be surprised if The Smile is nominated too. Thom Yorke’s previous side project received a bunch of nominations even though he’s in the bottom of the ballot.

This is who I think has a chance:

Best Rock Song & Best Rock Performance:

Red Hot Chili Peppers Black Summer

    Jack White Taking Me Back

My Chemical Romance The Foundations of Decay

    Wet Leg Chaise Longue

Fontaines D.C. Jackie Down The Line

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard The Dripping Tap

The War On Drugs I Don’t Live Here Anymore

Paramore & Arctic Monkeys if they release something as well

All of these could get nominated for Best Rock Album as well maybe black midi could get a nomination too.

    Best Alternative Music Album:

    Arcade Fire WE

    Animal Collective Time Skiffs

Big Thief Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You

    Beach House Once Twice Melody

The Smile A Light For Attracting Attention

Black Country, New Road Ants From Up There

    Mitski Laurel Hell

Florence + The Machine Dance Fever (if its submitted for alternative)

Bjork if she releases anything as well

Someone has to convince Florence’s team to go Alternative. It would be between her and Big Thief this year with The Smile and Arcade Fire as the safe back-ups. Pop will leave her empty -handed and I don’t think her songs are heavy enough to win Rock Performance or Song.

If Bjork releases a new album, can we all do a prayer circle that she is nominated and finally wins a Grammy?

do y’all think there’s some, “young alternative prodigies” that’ll get nominated, like japanese breakfast and arlo parks in this year’s ceremony? i think black country new road and wet leg have the best chance to pull this off, with maybe snail mail and magdalena bay as other contenders?

your mom called, i told her, you're fucking up big time!

I wouldn’t be surprised if The BBC Sessions by Green Day got a nom, considering Black P(ayola)umas made it like that.
