Florence alsays goes Pop, so I’ll stick with her there. Best Alternative Music Performance Arcade Fire, “Age of Anxiety II (Rabbit Hole)” Big Thief, “Simulation Swarm” Phoebe Bridgers, “Sidelines” Maggie Rogers – “That’s Where I Am” Rosalía, “Hentai” Best Alternative Music Album Arcade Fire – WE Big Thief – Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You Black Country, New Road – Ants From Up There Mitski – Laurell Hell Maggie Rogers – Surrender

This is Florence’s best shot on winning a grammy, like, EVER. They should submit the album to the alt. field (What Kind Of Man even received a Best Rock Perf. nomination in 2016, it’s not that difficult for them). Also, Maggie is probably going to submit to pop, in my opinion (That’s Where I Am is 100% pop, I doubt they’ll accept it in the alt. field).

All of Florence’s album have gone pop and this one isn’t more alternative than the rest (in fact it’s kinda more pop), so I think she’ll be relegated there.

Maggie gives me more Alternative based on “Want Want”. Even “That’s Where I Am” is kinda built unconventionally for a pop song.

If I remember correctly, Lungs was submitted to Rock Album but missed the nomination. I wonder if her placements are the work of the screening committee.

Do you really think Rosalía is getting nominated ? Or is that more of a hopediction?

Don’t see why she couldn’t. She has the most acclaimed album of the year and she’s a GF nominee so clearly she has a good following outside of the Latin field.

Wasn’t her GF nomination during the Blue Ribbon panel era? That might’ve been a fluke. It’s hard for Latin artists to crossover in other fields at the Grammys. A nomination for her in Rock/Alternative would be unprecedented, would it not? Especially for a full Spanish language song?

It would (I think) in the Alt field, but it’s not like there’s ever been a Spanish-languague artist with that level of indie cred and crossover. Rosalía’s BNA nom was already historic as she was the first Spanish-language artist to get it since José Feliciano (who had songs in English), I believe. Also I’m pretty confident that she would’ve made it in without a panel anyways, she was the 5th most predicted artist for a BNA nom that year.

I think music is so globalized now that tbh I don’t see the language barrier being much of a factor for her specifically. When you have people Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, Katy Perry, Jacob Collier, Ariana Grande, Halsey, Madonna, Arooj Aftab, Lorde, Sabrina Carpenter, Nial Horan, Finneas… all being massive fans of her music, it kinda shows how much she’s broken the language barrier. Even the Kardashians are stans.

In theory I agree that the language barrier should be broken. But Grammy voters tend to be a bit biased towards anything non-English. Which is why I’m worried for Bad Bunny in the GF. However, if Rosalía breaks through the Rock/Alternative field that would be a great moment. “Hentai” is a great track. We shall see.

Alternative voters will note vote for Rosalía. I could see her being nominated in many GF/Pop Field categories, but not this one.

The alternative field is less competitive. She’s far more likely to be nominated there than in the Pop field, let alone the General Field.

Though MOTOMAMI will definitely only receive 1 nomination. 2 if it gets into Best Recording Package. But ROSALÍA wouldn’t be credited for that.
