Are there any other times an artist was completely shut out?

It took one of my late favorite singers 20 years to score his second top ten song, I love Billy Joe Royal so much, but since that late beautiful precious was able to find his way back to the front burner area eventually, perhaps my attention should be turned towards another one of my late favorites, Steve Sanders of the Oak Ridge Boys. His being shut out of everything after having his moment in the spotlight I believe is what drove him to his suicide. My question for those who turned their backs on him would be this: What earth shattering activity was the beautiful precious guilty of exactly to where you just couldn’t stomach anymore of him for one more second??? Since this chat is most likely supposed to be about Grammy awards and sadly another one of my favorite singers recently went forward, lets talk about how badly Joe Diffie was ignored. His only Grammy award winning moment was for a collaboration that featured several singers named “Same Old Train”, but I guess that is better than nothing considering the fact that Billy Joe never got even one nomination. To me, all three of my late favorites deserved better.

God bless you and those who have loved them longer than me always!!!

    Holly

P.S. “Same Old Train” was Joe’s only Grammy award nomination to my knowledge. Steve scored only one nomination to my knowledge and it was for “Gonna Take A Lot Of River” in early 1989.

Go here to check out my most favorite singer James Otto!

Not on the poll, but Harry Styles’ debut album, Harry Styles.

He had the narrative of a boy band member/teen pop star breaking into a mature sound (that worked for both Justin’s), and that mature sound was very rock based. HDD predicted him across the board in the GF, yet he ended up failing to get a single nom.

Lmao Billie Eilish’s album is not experimental, it’s just unorthodox of the pop customs we have been grown to cherish. Never call her music experimental. Arca and Death Grips are experimental, Billie Eilish is just pop music.

Billie may be a regular pop star to us who regularly consume all kind’s of music. But to majority of Grammy voters – let’s say David Foster & Clive Davis — “WWAFA, WDWG” may as well be a SOPHIE album.

Dirty Computer deserved Pop, R&B and even Rap & Rock nods, but only received 2 nods. the Grammys preferred EVERYTHING IS LOVE over Dirty Computer…

Justin Timberlake thought he was going to OWN 2018, debut and spend +20 weeks at #1 with 4 smash hits and then earn 10 Grammy nods all over Pop, R&B and Country and win at least 6 of them.

his only nod was exclusively due to Chris Stapleton.

Record of the Year: Hit Different by SZA ft. Pharrell Williams & co.
Song of the Year: Good Days by SZA ft. Jacob Collier

I remember thinking Whitney was going to be one of the leading nominees with five nominations, but then nothing happened for her. It was messed up because she moved her album up one day to meet the deadline.

The Element of Freedom by Alicia Keys is another one I was shocked got completely snubbed.

I was tempted to put Man of the Woods on the list. But then I remembered it got a forgettable Pop Duo/Group nomination. The album was wack. “Filthy” & “Supplies” were horrible singles. He tried it!

the desperate Grammy baitness of Man Of The Woods makes it an even more mediocre album. the rollout was terrible for someone who barely appears on the spotlight and only remembers that they’re a singer every 4-7 years.

Honey, I was NOT surprised by the snub of Alicia Keys’ The Element of Freedom.  It came and went.  In addition, it didn’t produce any top 10 hits.  Plus, she was snubbed in Album of the Year, Best R&B Song, and Best R&B Album for her previous effort, As I Am.
