Who will win Song of the Year?December 9, 2015 at 7:12 pm #414982
Sheeran vs Swift. I’m sticking with Ed because TOL is really about the lyricsDecember 9, 2015 at 7:23 pm #414983
Please please God, let Girl Crush pull an upset here!December 9, 2015 at 7:24 pm #414984
Shocking I know but I think this is Taylor’s to lose she can win here and still lose AotY without looking like she lost big. “Blank Space” is really strong lyrically.December 9, 2015 at 7:43 pm #414985
I think Ed Sheeran could take this one. He’s popular within the Academy based off previous GF nods. This song in particular was not only a big hit, but will appeal to a lot of older voters. In regards to who he likely appeals to within the Academy, he sort of reminds me of John Mayer.
It’s either this or Blank Space. Popular songs have won here the last several years now so I think Kendrick is out.December 9, 2015 at 8:18 pm #414986
“Thinking Out Loud” will win this.December 9, 2015 at 8:37 pm #414987
“Blank Space” is gonna win. They have to give her something in the general field because she is not winning AOTY or ROTY.December 9, 2015 at 8:45 pm #414988
I agree with ImKing, it will be “Blank Space” because they have to give Taylor something in the general field.December 10, 2015 at 3:39 am #414989
I think Taylor Swift will win this one. “Blank Space” is viewed as a “perfect pop song,” Max Martin helped with the song and if Taylor slips up in the other two marquee categories, she will be given a make-up award here. She’s been nominated several times in the general field, only taking AOTY for Fearless, so I think the voters would want to give her a songwriting award.
“Alright” would be my personal pick, especially with the meaning behind it, but Hip Hop never wins here. I guess it’s out. “Thinking Out Loud” could win it. Ed Sheeran has that John Mayer vibe about him, but I’m not too sure. I would rank him a close second. I’m not sure “Girl Crush” is crossover enough to win. Although nominated in the pop field, “See You Again” is essentially a rap song, so it’s out, too.
Rankings based on chances:
1. Blank Space
2. Thinking Out Loud
3. Girl Crush
5. See You AgainDecember 10, 2015 at 3:58 am #414990
I think Taylor has the edge right now, so I’m picking Blank Space.December 10, 2015 at 8:16 am #414991
“Alright” won’t win. No Rap song has ever won Song of the Year. The same theory applies to “See You Again.” “Girl Crush” has potential. It’s between “Blank Space” and “Thinking Out Loud.” I’m torn. Ed Sheeran’s John Mayer-like quality and popularity with the academy should allow him to squeak out a victory,
SHOULD WIN: “Alright”
WILL WIN: “Thinking Out Loud”December 10, 2015 at 9:03 am #414992
Rooting for “Alright” or “Blank Space”December 10, 2015 at 3:38 pm #414993
I think this will be between Blank Space & Thinking Out Loud.December 10, 2015 at 5:27 pm #414994
I’d love to see Taylor get awarded for her writing. (smiles)

As much as I think Ed is overdue for a Grammy, I have a feeling Taylor will snatch this one away. Taylor has been campaigning subtly for this (anyone remember that recent video on the grammys website for how she wrote blank space?). And she isn’t winning AOTY (which must hurt, seeing as she is a LOT more popular now than when she won it for Fearless), so as mentioned, they’ll porbably give her this.
Should win: Ed Sheeran
Will win: Taylor, probably.
