It may seem tough to gauge Billie Eilish’s cultural impact at this emerging juncture of her career — she’s only been a household name for about two years. Still, she makes it easy.
Her debut EP, Don’t Smile at Me, was the first sample of what Eilish, then 16, could create in her bedroom. Airy and atmospheric, the project showcased pop craft beyond her age. Then came her multi-platinum debut LP, When We All Fall Asleep Where Do We Go?. After the triumphant “Bad Guy” shattered records and Eilish cruised through the Grammys, she had every teenager on the globe seeking green hair dye at Sally’s Beauty Supply.
In 2020, Eilish is one of popular music’s defining trendsetters. Whatever she touches turns to gold. She can make a Fender Ukulele sell out faster than a flannel shirt in 1992. She can breathe new life into the word “duh.” Most importantly, she can make a hit record at home and inspire legions of teens to do the same.

Most of these other artists are only known in the western world. For instance, the mighty swift is barely known in Africa! An average African or Asian won’t recognise 90% of the people on this list.
U.S.A and Europe don’t even add up to 20% of the world population.
ReplyCopy URLI think the only place Taylor isn’t very popular is Latin America. It saddens me that she has never taken her tours to Mexico and South America. She would be massive if she played at Estadio Azteca, Maracaná, in Argentina.

The most popular female artists right now on Latinamerica are Ariana, Dua & Billie.
I agree, I also doubt any of those girls can fill up estadio Azteca. Only one woman has done that and it was Shakira (two nights in the freaking rain what a legend). Ariana is too damn shy and anxious for a stadium.

You know Taylor was NOT the focus of that post right?
I know she’s quite popular in Japan and China but Asia is very diverse. Bruno for instance is bigger in the Philippines and Ed Sheeran is bigger in India, generalisation is a bad idea in this case.
I used Africa to accentuate Swift’s Limited ubiquity. Michael Jackson and Beyonce have more global reach.
