I don’t know what people expected really. He did fine with what his strengths are. He was ok. Didn’t wow me, though. I think he lacks a bit of charisma on the stage to be honest.

He is not an entertainer like MJ or Bruno Mars. He is a singer who doesn’t dance. He did his best to make the performance interesting not being able to offer an elaborate choreography himself. I can see he really made an effort to offer the best he had to offer.

His songs also aren’t the kind of pop anthems that can get a crowd going. I am not judging his songs as bad. They are songs I actually like but I don’t think they’re the sort of song suitable for an event like this. You want an entertainer with catchy pop stuff or a charismatic rock star with songs everyone knows.

The Weeknd is a superstar, but how I see it he’s still not established like a Beyonce, Justin Timberlake or Lady Gaga etc. Maybe this came too early in his career.

Coldplay, for example, worked fine IMO because they have lots of catchy songs the crowd can sing along to. Chris Martin was also quite energetic and cheerful on the stage and it just looked pretty good, despite him not dancing or doing anything special. They also fit well with Beyonce and Bruno Mars, who are both stellar performers as far as dancing goes.

Maroon 5 I found them bland. Not enough energy and the rapper guy was out of place and didn’t have any chemistry at all with Levine and his stuff didn’t mesh well with Maroon 5 stuff.

I think maybe The Weeknd needed a guest star, and more specifically an entertainer, to accompany him to make up for his lack of dancing etc. I don’t think he is charismatic enough on stage to carry a whole show like this by himself.

Still think he deserved to be nominated at the Grammys for at least his song Blinding Lights. BL is much more memorable than all of the nominations this year for Song Of The Year IMO. Except for DSN. That one is the only other one that stands a chance to not be forgotten already by next year. as far as I’m concerned

this is a fair review of the show. The Weeknd wasn’t bad he was just ok.

why would he want the song to go to number one again? The song was already a success. Why not focus on Save Your Tears instead?
