ReplyApril 16, 2022 at 1:41 pm #1204919347I think this is definitely a contender for Dance/Electronic Album. There’s a strong number of contenders for Best Dance Recording. “Moth a Flame” with The Weeknd is probably a Pop/Duo Performance contender (unless Abel requests it not be submitted.)
While we’re discussing the group, I also think their remix of The Weeknd’s “Sacrifice” could get a Best Remixed Recording (Non-Classical) nomination.
ReplyCopy URLApril 22, 2022 at 10:24 am #1204927634Thinking their team will go with their Sting collaboration “Redlight” for Best Dance Recording. The category has favored house music in recent years, and this new track was a standout during their Coachella set last week. SHM seems like a front runner in both Electronic categories.
Best Engineered Album is also a very realistic album, as I think this album will receive praise for its very slick studio production.
If The Weeknd’s team doesn’t submit “Moth to a Flame” (their Coachella closer last week), as Abel & SHM now share management, then I expect the new single “Heaven Takes You Home” with Connie Constance on lead vocals will be submitted as Best Pop Performance By a Duo or Group with Vocals.

Looking at the recently nominated Producers in this category, this seems like a very realistic possibility. EDM-friendly producers who branch out in different genres tend to sneak in nominations regularly.

Swedish House Mafia, ‘Paradise Again’
Swedish House Mafia had their heyday a decade back, and this year’s Paradise Again is likely not the LP they would have made while the apex kings of EDM. But releasing their debut album as the cornerstone to their comeback serves the trio well, with the guys leaning into their influences and passions (house, IDM, hip-hop) without succumbing to forgettable trend-forward dance jams a younger group may have felt pressured to make. Instead, the album demonstrates maturity in both sound and decision-making — and while marquee collaborators, including The Weeknd, Ty Dolla $ign and A$AP Rocky, give the set crossover cred, the tracks made exclusively by the trio are where Paradise Again really shows what Swedish House Mafia is capable of, now more than ever. — KATIE BAIN

I’d assumed they’d submit Redlight featuring Sting for Best Dance Electronic Recording & HTYH to Pop Duo or Group with Vocals, but not anymore. This song is starting to take off at the right time to matter in this category.

Fred again… X Swedish House Mafia – Turn Out the Lights again… (feat. Future)
The song, featuring a sample of Future’s 2012 track “Turn Out The Lights”, is a single of Fred’s new album due this Fall. Swedish House Mafia first collaborated with Fred Again… earlier this year on their album track “Calling On”, and apparently worked on a total of six songs together.
Fred again… is currently riding high off his much talked about Boiler Room set, getting praise from dance music vets like Tiesto, DJ Snake & the Chainsmokers on social media.
Fred again… | Boiler Room (London)Coming off Boiler Room, a highly praised Coachella set & a sold out Fall mini tour, “Turn Out the Lights again…” could be a surprise Best Dance Recording contender.
