The important thing here is that the industry decided to award a video which Taylor directed herself and which has become the face of her re-recordings and songwriting prowess. It’s an honour for sure. I know Taylor campaigned the fuck out of it for the oscars but I was unsure whether the voters will reward a re-recorded song even if it was just the video. I know Taylor was thrilled.
