Taylor Swift has never had a clearer shot at sweeping the Grammys (besides 2016.) Do you think it’s possible that she sweeps all five of her nominations for “folklore?” (she is obviously not winning for Cats.)
ReplyNovember 26, 2020 at 1:41 pm #1203875801I think Taylor could win all of her nominations this year outside of BVMS. cardigan for BPSP is her only Achilles heal. I have Dua as the front-runner there. But I could see a scenario where Dua wins BPSP but Taylor wins SOTY similarly to Lizzo winning this same category but losing in the gf to Billie. I think though that Taylor has a realistic shot at sweeping all of her nominations for folklore. BPD/GP, AOTY, SOTY, and BPVA seem like shoe-ins at this point, my only question is BPSP. Could she perform an upset or do you think It’s Dua’s to lose?

ReplyCopy URLNovember 26, 2020 at 4:05 pm #1203876079I think Taylor’s best chances for wins are Best Pop Vocal Album and Song of the Year. I know this is a weird combination. I am expecting her to lose Pop Solo Performance to Don’t Start Now, which will also win Record of the Year. I am also not so confident that voters will want to give her a third album of the year, despite the argument that the BRP set her up for a win. In my opinion, Jhene is set up pretty well for an upset in Album of the Year. I think voters will avoid giving Taylor album and give her Song as compensation. It will be a good chance to recognize her incredible achievements in song-writing (as a five time nominee) in a general field category without giving her another Album of the Year win.
Best Chance of a Win
- Best Pop Vocal Album
- Song of the Year
- Album of the Year
- Best Pop Solo Performance
- Best Pop Duo/Group Performance

I still have Rain on Me winning.
Despite the lukewarm response to Chromatica, Lady Gaga IS a pop field favorite. Ariana is one of the biggest pop stars in the world and the song is one of the bigger hits of the year. I do have Taylor in second but I’m just not sure she can pull off a popular vote win with Exile. if Exile gets more promotion throughout the voting period, I could consider it.
Dua should be thankful for a nomination here. BTS’ nom could be a “welcome to the club” nomination. and Bieber just isn’t happening against Taylor or Gaga.
Basically:
Rain on Me: huge 2020 song. Two of the world’s biggest pop stars. Gaga has proven to be a pop field favorite. both Gaga and Ariana have shown favor with the pop field more recently than Taylor. Been campaigned throughout the entire year.
Exile: sometimes this category DOES reward a more “mature” and “alternative” competitor (Feel It Still, Stressed Out, Say Something, Shallow, Somebody That I Used to Know) but just as often goes to big pop hits (Old Town Road, Get Lucky, Uptown Funk).
They are neck and neck, but I think Gaga ultimately pulls It off.

Yeah I think Intentions has a shot too (unfortunately). I just thought it was odd to see BPDGP below BPSP

November 26, 2020 at 4:35 pm #1203876132Folklore is in a good position to win AOTY & PVA. “exile” is a head in PDGP.
If they REALLY love the album, “cardigan” could receive SOTY & PSP too. I don’t think “Beautiful Ghosts” is winning 😂

PVA
