oh. so they won’t win. they would’ve had a chance if he had never won.
ReplyCopy URLNovember 26, 2020 at 5:58 pm #1203876269I don’t see it. Even during Fearless and 1989, she did not sweep.
If the voters truly love her, then I can see a sweep, but I think she has big competition in Pop Solo, Song of the Year and Visual Media, decent competition in and Pop Duo/Group and Pop Vocal Album and very small competition in Album of the Year.
I’d say she wins AOTY, Pop Duo/Group and Pop Vocal Album at the bare minimum, but a sweep isn’t likely.

Taylor Swift- AOTY, SOTY, Pop Duo/Group Performance, Pop Vocal Album
Phoebe Bridgers- BNA, Rock Song, Rock Performance, Alternative Album
Dua Lipa- ROTY, Pop Solo Performance
Chloe x Halle- Traditional R&B Performance, R&B Song, Progressive R&B Album
November 26, 2020 at 7:23 pm #1203876365Taylor joining Beyoncé & Adele for most wins by a Female Artist would make sense…during the 1989 era.
ReplyCopy URLNovember 26, 2020 at 8:12 pm #1203876462Taylor should have won SOTY for blank space. Idk how TOL won?
ReplyCopy URLNovember 26, 2020 at 9:08 pm #1203876607I still have Rain on Me winning. Despite the lukewarm response to Chromatica, Lady Gaga IS a pop field favorite. Ariana is one of the biggest pop stars in the world and the song is one of the bigger hits of the year. I do have Taylor in second but I’m just not sure she can pull off a popular vote win with Exile. if Exile gets more promotion throughout the voting period, I could consider it. Dua should be thankful for a nomination here. BTS’ nom could be a “welcome to the club” nomination. and Bieber just isn’t happening against Taylor or Gaga. Basically: Rain on Me: huge 2020 song. Two of the world’s biggest pop stars. Gaga has proven to be a pop field favorite. both Gaga and Ariana have shown favor with the pop field more recently than Taylor. Been campaigned throughout the entire year. Exile: sometimes this category DOES reward a more “mature” and “alternative” competitor (Feel It Still, Stressed Out, Say Something, Shallow, Somebody That I Used to Know) but just as often goes to big pop hits (Old Town Road, Get Lucky, Uptown Funk). They are neck and neck, but I think Gaga ultimately pulls It off.
ROM is no OTR or Uptown Funk. It’s possibly one of the worst songs this year and it’s only moderately successful. It just namechecks two big pop favourites. Exile’s real competition here is intentions esp when you consider how much the pop voters favoured bieber for the noms.
ReplyCopy URLNovember 27, 2020 at 2:00 pm #1203878045I think Taylor’s best chances for wins are Best Pop Vocal Album and Song of the Year. I know this is a weird combination. I am expecting her to lose Pop Solo Performance to Don’t Start Now, which will also win Record of the Year. I am also not so confident that voters will want to give her a third album of the year, despite the argument that the BRP set her up for a win. In my opinion, Jhene is set up pretty well for an upset in Album of the Year. I think voters will avoid giving Taylor album and give her Song as compensation. It will be a good chance to recognize her incredible achievements in song-writing (as a five time nominee) in a general field category without giving her another Album of the Year win. Best Chance of a Win
- Best Pop Vocal Album
- Song of the Year
- Album of the Year
- Best Pop Solo Performance
- Best Pop Duo/Group Performance
I see your point. I think folklore is still probably an AOTY front-runner but I could see them giving it to someone else. Also why is BPD/GP so low? I think exile is probably the runaway frontrunner.

I agree with you. I think her best case scenario is 4 awards, maybe 5. I think at this point it’s certain that she wins at least one but we’ll see. I think a sweep is unlikely.

Intentions isn’t formidable either. And I since foul-play with Justin’s nominations, but anyway. I think all songs here probably have some sort of chance of winning. But exile is the clear front-runner. It just sounds like a grammy winning song.

with this logic for Bieber, Dua would also be in contention to win, because she got nominated in the same 3 pop categories that Taylor and Justin got into. Dua got a surprise nom here and Bieber got 2 surprise noms in the other 2 categories.
Dua and Taylor are both safely ahead of Justin in BPVA and BPSP, so I would think they would be here too, other than the fact that intentions is a hit song. Maybe voters will want to reward Bieber somewhere, so they choose here. It’s a possibility.

Yes, I agree. After more thought, I have moved BPDGP to her second or third most likely to win category.

To be fair, there is no Old Town Road or Uptown Funk in this category. But I would say Rain On Me, or I guess Dynamite even, is the closest fit into that “spot”.
I can make a valid case for either Exile or Rain On Me winning at this point. I really think it’s only between them. BTS would be following them, imo, even over Bieber.
