    a famous youtube music reviewer

I’d wanna be more enthusiastic about him but it’s not a good sign when the synopsis of a review is literally taken from pitchfork

I take his reviews more serious than PF. Hes just a regular music listener aka a local so there’s not really a bias with him.

not to disagree with you by any means, especially since I never quite took pitchfork seriously myself, but a stroll down the guy’s wikipedia page led me to this little passage my personal favourite music journalist wrote about him

“[l]ittle apparent interest in the pop end or indeed tune or indeed fun, however–always a tragic and psychologically revealing lacuna. Nowhere near as insensible to hip-hop/r&b as dark proggers tend to be, but note that very few female artists crack his top 10s, which in 2018 was really missing the action.”

I’m sure this is a to each their own situation but until he starts putting his thoughts in written form, I’ll live without

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.billboard.com/amp/articles/columns/pop/8528730/taylor-swift-lover-singles-poll-vote

Billboard released a poll asking which Lover song should be Taylor’s next single. Cruel Summer is leading by a massive amount, follow by The Man, Miss Americana, and Paper Rings.

He’s unbiased. He gave thank u next an 8 despite being a pop album, and he has praised many pop albums before. The reality is, in most cases, rock and rap albums are closer to what critics like. He’s also trashed many pop albums before. So y’all should feel good about a 6.

the passage I quoted was less about what he praises/gives high ratings to but rather his style of reviewing, besides I feel fairly indifferent about his rating, mostly intrigued by the fact that his opinion warranted a post to this thread while I know basically nothing of him

he did give Reputation a 4/10… so this is a step up lol.

His “expertise” is Rock,R&B,Alternative so when he gives high scores to albums that aren’t that those genres, you can tell he genuinely likes them.

But his Rap/Hip Hop reviews ARE biased… don’t take him seriously when he reviews rap albums. Sometimes he gets them 100% wrong….

This article states that Lover was just a promotional single. Is it? Even with the music video AND live performance? Cruel would have been a better single back in June. She should go with The Man.

I’ll be surprised if Lover was just a promotional single. IMHO, they should push it now. It’s clearly resonating very well. It’s already Top 50 on Top 40 radio, and it was #1 on Spotify every day this past week (and an additional 4 days before album release) and has only fallen down to #2 today. During the first week it has never left the Top 5 on Spotify. It’s also has been lingering between #4 to #5 on Apple Music. It’s also still Top 10 on iTunes.

It is clearly the right and only logical choice to go with, especially after two poor consecutive single choices. This will be her chance to gain longevity and goodwill from the general public she turned off from ME & YNTCD (and the Reputation era asides from Delicate).

Since the entire album was submitted to radio, I expect Lover to be the one to impact. It was just supposed to be a promo single but its doing pretty well for a promo single. Cruel Summer as much as its the fan fav, it wouldn’t work out as a single anymore since the weather is getting cooler and no one really wants a jumpy, poppy type of song. Lover would be a perfect song to be pushed in the fall/winter time.

Taylor Swift reminded all these new pop girls who try to be trendy in 2019 how to make a good pop album. Easily the best album of this year. And y’all know I’m not a Taylor Swift stan.

Songs that aged the best so far: Cruel Summer, Lover, Cornelia Street, False God, I Think He Knows, Afterglow, Soon You’ll Get Better, Death By A Thousand Cuts & Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince.

“he got that boyish look that i like in a man” though… girl please you’re almost 30 now. Stop being into twinks
