Me! received polarizing reviews from music critics. Cited as the worst song of the year and the worst ever from Swift. 2 bad lead single in a row. No Grammy this year. Is Taylor Swift over?!
The reviews are mixed and it’s definity not named the worst song of 2019. It’s funny cause the general public and most people really like the song and it’s doing incredibly amazing on chartsApril 27, 2019 at 6:28 am #1202869098
1. Love Story
3. We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together
4. Tim McGraw
5. Shake It Off
6. Look What You Made Me Do
7. ME!April 27, 2019 at 6:39 am #1202869118
“ME!” is having a thunderous debut, at least on YouTube. It makes me irrationally frustrated. I mean, does she not consider how much longevity her lead could have if it was actually good? (granted, she thought it was good enough to release). It seems like wasted attention that could’ve gone to a legitimately good track.
Another parallel to LWYMMD is that I expect it to debut really high, but then tumble down the charts soon after. (Though I could be very long and we’ll be hearing this for months—at least in back to school commercials)April 27, 2019 at 6:58 am #1202869168
Not that I liked, but I can’t say ME! is worst than ‘LWYMMD’ (it will be hard to surpass this one) or ‘We Are Never Ever…’April 27, 2019 at 8:05 am #1202869217

What? Worse than LWYMMD & WANEGBT?
Me! is the worst among them.

Receipts? Liars gonna lie.
It got mixed reviews. Billboard, Rolling Stone, Variety and Independent UK gave positive ones. Even Pitchfork, which extemely hates Swift, made fun of her but they didn’t call the song the worst song of the year.
Reviews don’t change the song’s success though.April 27, 2019 at 12:46 pm #1202869463
This is NOT the worst reception that Taylor has ever gotten. We have to remember that the first singles off of her albums are specially designed to attract any kind of attention, and they often have nothing to do with the actual overall vibes or anything of the album. WANEGBT was nothing like most of the rest of Red, LWYMMD was the odd child out on reputation, and ME! will likely be that black sheep as well. It’s probably most like Shake It Off, the candy-pop kiddie bop that will likely be a little out of place on a chiller, more pastel-influenced album. The next song should give us more of a sense of what the rest of the album is REALLY going to be like. Just be patient and wait, Taylor always has a plan. And we have to remember that Taylor’s fans aren’t all adults! She has a TON of kid fans who are probably loving this song, and this one was probably more for them than anyone else.April 27, 2019 at 1:13 pm #1202869488

I’m not sure if this has been said yet, but Taylor’s opening the Billboard Music Awards.April 27, 2019 at 6:10 pm #1202869668
You guys are overreacting. The song is getting like 4/5 star reviews and will probably break the yt record and debuting at #1. It’s a little childish but it’s still very catchy and radio friendly and way better than something like 7 Rings. It reminds me of Happy and Can’t Stop The Feeling and those songs were both kinda childish and full of cliches. And both were extremely successful and won Grammys, so? Don’t be so dramatic- 7 Rings is a much worse song (I see it, I like it, I want it, I got it)
Bringing up Ariana doesn’t make Me any less terrible than it is. The fact that you stans are telling everyone to stop having high expectations of her when Y’ALL are the ones throwing this “she writes ALL of her music by HERSELF” label as some sort of defense is all types of LOL. You accept mediocrity because it’s her. If Ariana did this exact same song, the same Swifities would be clowning her (just as they were when they were pressed that she won Pop Vocal Album over Reputation).April 27, 2019 at 9:00 pm #1202869752
Some people here are acting like the current number one isn’t the awful Old Town Road. We should all be grateful that Ms. Swift is putting a stop on this.
