Y’all need to stop. I’m not lowering my expectations for someone that is often positioned as the biggest artist of the decade, SPECIALLY when you’re the ones that keep talking about her and how good she is. Me! is simply not good, and that’s the truth. You can compare it to Old Town Road, but that’s a meme song by a guy who won’t ever touch the top 10 again, and you can compare it to 7 Rings but that’s a song from a critically acclaimed album by an artist at her peak. Taylor can’t afford to ruin her discography like this.

Yikes, already down to #2 on Global Spotify, behind Billie’s “Bad Guy”.

It’s still #1 on the US charts, though technically it’s #2 as the two versions of Old Town Road combined pass it.

Check your facts! #1 in US Spotify!

Btw Taylor was always kinds local. Her numbers were big in US, not in Europe so this doesn’t surprise me. She has never been dominating Worldwide as much as Adele or Ed Sheeran.

You guys need to stop comparing Ariana and Taylor. Ariana is in her imperial phase. Taylor should be heading into “legend” phase. Instead she releases this crap. If Ariana is still singing about 7 Rings 10 years later then you can drag her. Taylor should be doing better than this. Especially since her previous albums showed she is capable of it.

She’s not even 30, she’s still allowed a couple of mistakes lmao

It’s still number 1 on US Spotify though! Taylor is kinda local recently though so it’s expected!

Taylor needs to make better single choices. There’ll probably be better songs in the album.

She should’ve released “Dress” as a single instead of that awful delicate for example, which was too monotonous.

In an interview with Zach Sang, Taylor said the following:

This album is a pretty big story. There’ s a lot to say, there’s a lot that is said. It goes pretty in-depth in lyrics that I’m really proud of. And like I said, a lot of the time I’ll pick a first single because I like the feeling it conveys, knowing that there’s a lot more on the album that’s very different from that first single, which is something that I think the fans have picked up on at this point.

I mean, this was kind of expected, but reassuring to know nonetheless. We’ll just have to see what happens.

Has anyone mentioned the similarity of the chorus with that of Emeli Sande’s “Next to Me”?

Seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen, especially since they’ve happened for a lot less similarities.

Lawsuits in music are almost never justified (apart from Ed Sheeran who downright copy other artists). Remember that dude who sued Miley for like a billon dollar because of one sentence? lmao

The prechorus also sounds way too similar to One Foot by Walk the Moon.

I know it’s late but in case anyone’s wondering I think ME! is… fine. It’s nowhere near what Taylor or Brandon are capable of, and can’t help but feel like a wasted opportunity for something great they could’ve come up with together. For me it’s a slightly weaker version of Shake It Off, strong verses, so so chorus (but Shake It Off had a great bridge, ME!’s is easily the worst part of the song). I won’t put any stock into what this song means for the album as a whole, because the first song she gives us off her albums are always misdirects and sound nothing like the album as a whole (Innocent, We are Never Ever Getting Back Together, Shake It Off, Look What You Made Me Do). Regardless of the quality of the album, I do think it will be more commercially successful than reputation. reputation was darker than anything she had ever put out, which made it immediately polarizing. This album will clearly be more lighter in tone, and I think that’s something the general public will respond much more positively to.
