Ablaze is beautiful. I liked the first two singles, and I think Reasons I Drink is her best song in ages.
About her Grammy chances, who knows. She’s been “campaigning” a lot…a lot of appearances in talk shows, performances…the album feels like a return to form so why not. It would be nice to see her getting a couple of noms.

She’s pulled back on the vocal affectations a bit. And the song-writing is passable, if mostly cliche. She doesn’t seem to be chasing chart success with bland, big chorus soft-rock any longer. So, that’s a good thing. The album is solid and I guess would be a treat for legit fans. I do feel like Alanis is a pop girl at heart. I would’ve loved for her to go down the dance-pop/electric-pop/art-pop route.

Alanis deserves some recognition for this album. SPFITR is one of the best albums of the year so far. Well done Alanis!
But, is it a Rock album? or is it Alternative Music or Pop? Who knows.
