January 13, 2018 at 4:55 am #1202466247Since it’s a jury voted award except the video, Sam Smith can stop Ed Sheeran although I think Ed should sweep up.
It was his year. He has dominated and is still dominating the charts and sales. Despite this, he couldn’t sweep up any award show including VMAs, AMAs, the Grammys.
Let the boy take what he deserves at least in his own country.

January 13, 2018 at 11:28 am #1202466443Is it a joke? They are nominating shitty New Rules and Feels for British single and snubbing Sign of the Times?
Where is Harry Styles? Why is overrated Dua Lipa everywhere?

ReplyCopy URLJanuary 13, 2018 at 1:09 pm #1202466501Sam Smith WAS eligible, he just didn’t get nominated – despite performing at the ceremony! Huge snub.
Little Mix were NOT eligible for British Group. To be nominated in Male, Female or Group categories, artists must have released an album in the year being recognised. Glory Days was released in 2016 – and Little Mix were nominated for Best Group last year for that album.
British Single nominees are, typically, the ten biggest selling British singles of the year. The nominated ten and the ten biggest sellers this year do pretty much match up (limiting acts to one single each otherwise it would all be Ed Sheeran).
Dua Lipa is the biggest British Female Solo Artist since Adele. She is the first Solo Female since Adele to get to number one. The BRITs have been so Male heavy in recent years, especially in Best Album. No one ever seems to mention it. But it’s true. I welcome Dua Lipa leading the nods and getting an Album nod too!

2010 – Lungs (Florence + the Machine)
2011 – Sign No More (Mumford and Sons)
2012 – 21 (Adele)
2013 – Our Version of Events (Emile Sande)
2014 – AM (Artic Monkeys)
2015 – X (Ed Sheeran)
2016 – 25 (Adele)
2017 – Blackstar (David Bowie)I think everything is okay about female representation. And I agree with all these wins

That’s wins. In most of those cases the winning females were the only female nominee in the category that year. The years where men win, such as last year with Bowie, there’s no women in Album. Women are half the human race and do produce probably half the albums out there, yet are under represented.

January 14, 2018 at 7:07 am #1202466990Wow I didn’t expect that San Smith snub…
Yaaas! for Dua Lipa, she is very fresh I really like her and New Rules is a bop, it deserves to win British Single and VideoHarry is overated yes, buy he deserved better
And that Alicia Keys nod is so random… like, what did she do to get that nomination? Camila Cabello and Lana Del Rey, even Katy Perry deserved it the most
